The Multimatic DSSV damper in the left rear lost its fluid through a leak. Various forums indicate there is a design flaw with the DSSV for the ZR2. A blown shock renders the vehicle unbalanced, and marginally safe in unexpected rough terrain or when pulling a trailer. These dampers or shocks have shafts that are too thin and poorly designed seals, causing them to leak.

The truck is the ZR2 model, crew cab short bed. I was towing a 2100lb trailer with 347# of tongue weight at 25mph, uphill, on a dirt road. Hit a dip in the road at 25 mph and it bent the frame at the cab/pick up box area. The frame necks down to 3 1/2 inches there with 2 factory large oval holes on both sides of the frame. I have found another pic of a ZR2 towing a trailer, and it bent at the exact same place.
