Colorado ZR2 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

I bought my 2019 V6 ZR2 new and it had the normal shudder problem but now its been shifting hard, not shifting, hanging up when shifting, and bangs into gear on a daily basis - no matter what the temp of the truck is, it will still do it. The truck almost got me hit because it failed to shift properly as I exited my driveway - it tried to shift but hung up as a car came over the hill near my driveway. And when it did go into gear, it was hard.

Colorado WT 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

At around 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the transmission has a delayed shift from 3rd gear into 4th. There is about a 3 second delay before the transmission goes into gear. Does this about once or twice then is fine.

I also have experienced some shudder that at first seems to be rough pavement but when I drive the same route each day to work realized this was not the case, and was consistently in an area where I increased speed from 30mph to 60mph. Took to dealership where the transmission valve body was replaced, to which I still encountered the same issue at first, now only have this issue about once a week.

TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN COLD, ACCORDING TO A GM BULLETIN, THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL

Update from Jan 18, 2021: update on transmission problems now the truck lunges forward when you use the remote to start the truck, as of 01/17/2021 the transmission has vibration and sounds like you are on the rumble strip on the highway.

Colorado WT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,400 miles

Hate to say it but I might have bought the wrong vehicle here as I waited 29.5 years to purchase a new Chevy truck. After only 1400 miles my new 2019 Colorado truck now has a tranny problem about not shifting into 4th gear without almost winding out 3rd gear. I now have to let off the gas pedal to get the engine RPMs to reduce so the truck CAN shift into 4th gear when normal driving is done, meaning no big acceleration from a standing stop. Downshifting through the gears on this 8 spd tranny is just fine, no hesitation or otherwise anything bad to say-no noises or shuddering (unlike many other reviews I've now read about), my prob only happens when easily accelerating from a stop position. ALSO now have the "check engine" light illuminated on the dash but not sure if both of these probs are related. This was to have been my "retirement" vehicle purchase as I retired on 4-1 of this year and had a nice 2 week camping vacation planned for middle of August. Truck is with the dealer as of this morning but no progress or even an "estimate" of what is wrong, how long to fix or if it can even be fixed..... Whaaaaaaaa....new vehicles should not be having these kinds of problems so soon as I've now read A LOT about the problems with Chevy Colorados.

NOT A HAPPY COLORADO OWNER PRESENTLY.!!

Colorado V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 450 miles

When using cruise control and you start up a hill, transmission shifts into the lowest gear possible to keep up with the speed of 70 mph. The problem is that at 70 mph the gear is to low to go any faster. Its rapped out all the way but it won't shift into the next gear. So it stays in low gear all the way up the hill until you top the hill. Its doing this at over 5000 rpm's. So if you are going up a long hill you are winding that engine at over 5000 rpm's for a half mile. Its harming the engine and burning 3 times the gas. Dealer refuses to do anything about it.
