I have a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette with a service active handling, ABS and traction control issue. I feel it is a quality/safety concern on General Motors' part as this causes the vehicle to stop abrupt at times at any speed. Currently no high speed issues have occurred but fear that it may happen. I see no movement on GM's part to remedy this obvious safety issue that can cause injury to myself and maybe others in the event that the system completely fails or fails at the wrong time. The current investigation number I am told associated with this is EA09-002.

2005 Corvette 06/25/2006 driving on surface street, speed limit 40 mph, wheels locked up at 40 mph, pulled car to the right which almost caused us to crash into the public transportation bus that us directly next to us traveling in the right hand lane. To dealer on 06/26/2006 invoice# cvcs110835 = wording on the service report is as follows: #1 customer states service active handling system came on. Customer turned traction system off. Tires were locking up & vehicle was pulling strongly to the right. Customer almost had a accident. - scan & perform steering wheel position test for codes P0710 symptom 1F & 52 intermittent wiring open circuit concern. Also C052 yaw sensor code. After performing tests all ok no fault at this time. Follow bulletin 06-02-35 inspect steering position sensor connection. Nec. To rework connection & secure to prevent tilt telescope steering wheel from pulling complete harness & causing cust. Concern. Call & confirm with tan.case #902190. Said the after test drive if condition does not reoccur that problem most likely fixed. Test drive 5 miles no cel.service.

2005 Corvette part time realtor, my husband and I were researching property in pacific palisades when at the top of the mountain the wheels locked up and car slid & skid, took approximately 15 seconds to come to a stop. Placed car in park & turned off engine. No cell service to call aaa, waited for 10 mins, started car & drove very slowly home. Took car to dealer on 06/12/2006 service invoice# cvcs110532 = wording on the service report is as follow: #1 customer states that after backing up then going forward the vehicle felt like the front brakes were locked up - removed wheels, calipers and inspected brakes, no problem detected. #2 customer states that the engine feels like it hesitates when accelerating. - check for codes found history PO300 random misfire on 1 & 8 inj both @ 15 lbs. Performed fuel injector flush & add additive test after all inj leak down the same.

While making a tight U-turn to the left in my 2005 Corvette the right front brakes locked and would not release. At the same time the "service active handling" message appeared on the dic (driver information center). This caused the vehicle to pull hard and made it very difficult to pull off the road safely. My first thought was that I blew out a tire. Though difficult I was able to get the vehicle off into a parking lot where I turned off the car. I then restarted the vehicle and everything was back to normal. I am very concerned about my safety and the safety of the vehicle if this were to happen when there was oncoming traffic or at higher speeds. There was one time a couple of days prior that the "service active handling" message showed of the dic but no noticeable problems came about. I talked to my local dealer's service department and they said that it could have been something as simple as an error from driving on wet roads since the light didn't appear again after restarting the car. I believed this and returned to driving until yesterday when this happened. Your time and consideration to this matter is greatly appreciated. I'd like to know if GM will issue a proper fix. I have researched online today and have found a tsb about installing a clip in the steering column where the wires plug into the steering sensor but that this may not be the fix for this specific problem. My car has only 17,000 miles on it and has been very well maintained. Please advise if possible. [xxx]

I own a 2005 Corvette C6 convertible. Today, as I was driving into work the service active handling system light came on. I looked on the internet about this problem & found that this can potentially cause the brakes to activate at any speed. This is a very serious problem. I took it to the dealer to have this fixed but have not heard back from them yet. I do not trust this car at freeway speeds.
