The contact stated that he received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 10V172000 (steering column) and took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs May 2010. The contact stated that he experienced a loss of power steering following the recall repairs. The manufacturer advised taking the vehicle back to the dealer for repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileage was 8,000. Updated 01/11/2011 the consumer stated when the problem initially happened, the steering wheel began to pull violently and the rear anti-lock brakes activated, which caused the vehicle to become undrivable. The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette with the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed the "service active handling system" warning light illuminated which was a result of NHTSA recall 10V172000, steering column. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were been unable to resolve the failure since they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contacts vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure began to occur on a daily basis. The failure mileage was 33,000.
