My 2006 Corvette Convertible would not shift in any gear. I was luckily stuck in a Bank Parking Lot. The car was towed to mechanic who told me that this is a common problem with a broken shift cable on Corvettes. GM should be ashamed of themselves as this is a 50K+ car and they have known about this problem for years and have done no recalls. I guess they are waiting for someone to seriously get hurt before they are forced to resolve this problem which could be a simple replacement of the bushings which are a cheap plastic.

I had to get my 2006 corvette towed after the shifter cable broke. It's very embarrassing to have your flagship Chevrolet vehicle not be able to move away from a business gas pump. Please issue a recall on this very common problem.

I purchased this car new, after Hurricane Katrina. The car is seldom driven. Current mileage is 9,934 miles. Leaving church on Sunday, the car would not shift out of PARK. This car has never been in the rain or spent the night out. I'm upset that a plastic bushing has caused my car to be DEAD-LINED. Now there is a CHEVROLET reason that the car is parked. The dealer tells me that I am out of warranty and the repair cost is at my expense. The 'shift control cable' is a $57.00 cost, the estimated cost from the dealer is $430.00. This is not a equitable situation. This problem is all over the internet. If this problem was on a higher sales volume vehicle, Chevrolet would have had a 'RECALL'. I'm frustrated with CHEVROLET.
