The Body Control Module has failed and there are no replacement parts available except used parts. The BCM is hard coded with the VIN. If you use a BCM from another car, certain safety systems are deactivated such as the air bags. The BCM is central to the electronic architecture so all other systems are at risk. The unit can be responsible for the car not starting, the headlights not working, the power windows and door locks failing, or in my case the active suspension not functioning. Since BCM's are widely used, this is a looming major safety issue for the nation because GM quit making new ones, no one else makes these parts, no one can repair the units. I know a number of C6 Corvette owners are using used parts which deactivates the air bags and the security system.

Car goes into deferred engine power. Replaced throttle body 3 times. The car starts to vibrate and then shuts down. This is dangerous for the driver and could get killed. We have checked engine leaks, sensors, etc. The car will drive okey for a little while and then engine light goes on and then starts to vibrate and shuts down and stops. I have to wait a little while, sometimes it will start up and sometimes will not. I cannot drive long distances or at night for fear the car will just stop. This is dangerous. I do not know what to do. Brought to the dealer and they just say, get a new vette, they do not take this problem seriously. Nor do their technicians know how to work on a vette. They have had the directions on how to take care of the problem in a notebook. One tech left his notes in my car. If a doctor had to take out his notes to see how to do a surgery, I wouldn't go to him. Would you? '

The last 2 days when I drive at night the headlights (low beams) shut off. I switch to the high beams and they work. This has happened in the dark and is dangerous because it happens about 30 or 40 minutes after driving the car. I let the car sit for 4 or 5 hours and then come back and they start working. It is the underhood bussed electrical center (ubec) housing I suspect.

Electrical contacts in fuel sending sensor (located inside gas tank) get covered with sulfite. And do not transmit fuel left in gas tank.. makes no difference if car is stationery, in motion, or on highway. Gas gage reads zero.. Chevrolet changed their transmitter the following model year.. but most 2007 models and prior years (2005,06 and 07 are affected.

Engine light goes on and goes into deferred engine power. Have replaced throttle body twice. Car run great and then the engine light will go on and when I start the car it starts to violently vibrate. I turn off. Sit for about 10 minutes and then try to start again. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Deferred engine power is dangerous. Sensors have been reset. This is an ongoing problem been to the dealer and they are price gouging. Problem has been going on for several months.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. While driving various speeds, the traction control system warning indicator and other warning indicators on the instrument panel flashed. The vehicle lost power and decelerated. The failure would correct itself after several minutes and the vehicle would operate normally. The vehicle was taken to royal Chevrolet (4502 w broad St, richmond, va 23230 (804) 441-9393) where it was diagnosed with a faulty wheel speed traction detector that needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 68,100.

Dealers refuse to repair vehicle stating the extended special coverage has expired. Airbag light will not shut off due to wire harness problem and GM knows about the problem. I tried to get the car repaired but local dealer did not have the parts. And the coverage expired.. I receive the notice in May 2016. My car met the mileage standard, less than 120 K miles and within 10 years of ownership.

My 2007 Corvette 2D convertible locks you in the car. You could get stuck in the car and suffocate to death. The windows and doors will not open, car is not recognizing the fob, you are totally stuck. Resort to emergency release on floor beside the seat. Lots of people don't know it's there! like a passenger sitting in the car while you go to do an errand. They could "burn up" overheated and stuck! GM knows that they have a problem as they sent me a letter advising me about the emergency release! but they refuse to fix it claiming they don't have a problem!....updated 02/23/16

While driving the Corvette, the engine shut down with no notice. The dash indicated the vehicle had entered accessory mode. Power steering, power brakes and engine power were completely gone. Within a few seconds, the dic went from 'accessory mode' to 'shift into park'. in order to do so, I had to coast to a safe place. Once I got to a spot where I could move off the road, I shifted to park and restarted the car. It then drove on as usual, but there was no check engine light or other indicator. This happened only once this day, however occurred three additional times within 10 miles on the 23rd of July. I contacted a GM service technician who works at a Chevrolet dealership and he checked for any service bulletins or recalls. There were none for the Corvette. I searched the internet, and Corvette forum (I am a 10 year forum member). I found numerous instances of the ignition switch in 2005-2007 Corvettes failing in this manner. I located an ignition switch and replaced it. This fixed the problem in 15 minutes and for less than $50 at dealer retail. I know from other nhstc recalls on vehicles that ignition switch failures are considered a critical and dangerous failure. The failures in the Corvettes should be included in these recalls. If such a failure occurred during crossing traffic or while driving in close proximity interstate traffic, the results could easily be (and may already have been) deadly. Please consider initiating a recall, or including the affected years of Corvette in an existing recall. My car is now fixed due to my ability to search forums and other web based information, however most Corvette owners are not as involved or as web savvy and could be involved in a long drawn out problem/diagnosis process which would put their lives at risk. Thank you.

Made online concern and issue with low beam lights going off in 2011. Recall notice from GM; January 2015, states it will install "jumper" wire. I already had this completed on 10/13/2011 which resulted as a short term fix. Still ended up having problems and eventually (hoping for the recall to transpire sooner) have it set up now where I need to pop the hood and install a 20 amp fuse in order for lights to go on. "jumper" format is not adequate just be aware. The design of the ubec unit should be overhauled to accomplish two key issues; heat and less sharp bends of the internal copper wiring to prevent stress and breaking. Currently only fog lights function without having to plug in the 20 amp fuse. Even my bright lights need the fused plug in under the hood.

I have a 2007 Corvette and the "service active handling system" light comes on. I went to the Chevrolet dealer and he was of little help. The current investigation number is EA09-002. Is there now or will there be in the future a recall notice on this problem since it is a common problem and even a service bulletin on the matter.

Transmission would not shift to reverse or park when I want to park the car. Chevy dealer did temp. Fix in April 2014 (out of town and extended period to get part). Problem happened again July 2014. I can drive the car and when parked I simply park where I can drive forward and apply the hand brake as it will restart in neutral.
