Overwhelming fuel odor after shutting car off and housing it in the garage or outside. Especially noticeable in summer when ethanol is added to fuel - heavy smell of nail polish remover inside and outside the car. Fuel vapor leak from gas tank requires $2,678.87 repair. Fuel vapor buildup inside the vehicle and/or garage and house are a fire hazard as well as a health hazard. Other owners have complained of similar problem on the Corvette forum. Chevrolet needs to recall and replace this component on all C6 Corvettes.

I am smelling gas fumes coming from the driver side after driving. I can hear fuel dripping on the exhaust when I park the car in my driveway which is on an slight incline. If it is not dripping on the exhaust it's dripping on something hot because it makes a sizzling sound. Please help! should have a recall about this problem in my opinion. Lots of Corvette owners are dealing with this same issue.

Fuel gauge does not work. Original problem was in 2009 when the vehicle lost power on the freeway. Fuel gauge indicated fuel in the tank, but it was empty. Had vehicle towed and refueled. From that time to the present, fuel gauge has never been accurate. Since 2013, the fuel gauge no longer works at all.

Following a high performance driver education event, my 2007 Corvette caught fire while traveling at low speed (approximately 10 mph) on a 2-lane county road, with the fire originating in the area surrounding the passenger rear (right rear) wheel well. As soon as I was aware of the fire, I stopped the car, shut down the engine, and observed the fire on the top of the transmission and gearbox from the rear of the car. I obtained a fire extinguisher and attempted to extinguish the fire by deploying the contents beneath the car on the area of visible flame. I was unable to extinguish the fire under the first attempt and I began to remove the rear carpeting from the vehicle in the rear hatch and trunk area as the carpet had began to smolder. A second fire extinguisher was brought to the scene and the fire was put out. The fire had consumed a 2" X 6" section of the hatch (trunk) floor, which had melted onto the rear exhaust pipe. After the car was towed home and put up on jack stands, it appears that the charcoal canister and sections of the emissions system were consumed in the fire. It is inconclusive in my observation if these components were causal to the fire or merely consumed in the flames. Much of the rear wiring surrounding the differential and transmission has been destroyed by the fire. There are also visible remnants of liquid "drips" on the right rear exhaust pipe travelling over the rear differential but no conclusive source of the liquid was found. I would like to ensure that this failure was not systemic to the vehicle design or manufacturer so that other owners may be protected from similar failures.

The fuel guage went to empty and the fuel is full. I was told that it is the fuel sensor. Chevrolet wants $1600 to fix the problem. The price is way out of line. Can I get some help.

Gas gauge is showing erratic levels and then shows empty when there is in fact fuel in the tank, ...works erratically and then stops working after more than 1/2 tank of gas has been used, if level of gas tank is below 1/2, ...gas gauge shows no gas/empty, ... this causes driver to not know how much gas is left in tank and so causes a very, very dangerous situation when traveling on highway at highway speeds, when traveling on george bush tollway here in plano Texas usa, my car engine died completely causing me to drive to side with no power in heavy rush hour traffic. This is unacceptable and is a known issue with the fuel sending unit/ fuel sensors in the gas tanks of numerous Corvettes for years 2005-2007. The cost to replace this defective sensor due to it being in the gas tank is >$1500 at dealer. Unacceptable.
