There is a very strong fuel smell in my Corvette after fueling up. The cabin smells like raw fuel, and it permeates the garage for a few days. The issue seems to subside after there is less fuel in the car.

After filling the car with fuel, I could smell gas instantly and I thought there was a leak. Upon parking my car in the garage the whole garage smelled of fuel. After two days the smell was gone but it does appear every time I fill the car to some degree. It comes and goes now so you never know when it will happen.

When parked in my garage there is a strong smell of gasoline. I am afraid of a fire or explosion. Purchased this car used from the previous original owner.

After filling up with gas there is an extremely strong smell of gasoline in the car itself. Only after half a tank is gone is the smell finally gone.

Strong gasoline smell coming from rear of car around gas tank area. Strong smell when parked in garage.
- Huntington Beach, CA, USA
The gas tank on the drivers side is leaking from the top around fuel pump. Very strong fuel odor.
- Sugar Land, TX, USA
The driver's side fuel tank started leaking at the top of the tank. Anything over 1/2 tank (the Corvette uses two fuel tanks, a driver and passenger side) will result in extremely strong fuel odors and gas leaking from the top of the tank. The gas puddled on top of the tank, from leaking, could potentially drain or fall onto the hot exhaust while driving creating an enormous fire hazard. The fuel odor is overwhelming if the vehicle is parked in an enclosed space, say a garage, creating another fire hazard with the gas fumes. I am fearful to even drive the vehicle in the event that the worst could happen and the car catch on fire.

Strong odor of raw gas with car parked in garage. Changed fuel cap but did not fix problem. Concerned about possible explosion and/or fire as a result. Dealer cannot find any visible leaks but odor remains. There are many posts on the Corvette forum with the same issue and GM just seems to ignore the problem..
- Mechanicsville, VA, USA
Gas leaking at top of fuel tanks. Gas fumes fill cockpit and garage when parked. Evidence of gas dripping down back of drivers side fuel tank, next to exhaust. Car can not be kept in an enclosed garage due to fumes and fire hazard. Driving car also presents a fire hazards, because the fuel drips down onto hot exhaust. Numerous other reports on the Corvette forum of this same problem. Too many to count.

When fuel tanks are full there is a strong fuel smell that fills the garage and leaks into my house. If the fuel vapors get high enough they could create a fire hazard as well as an inhalation and respiratory issues.

Vehicle had 1/4 tank of fuel in the tank before filling on fri.after filling tank to full noticed strong gas smell from rear of vehicle, had to roll windows down to drive, odor was so strong could not park car in garage due to fire hazard, did not see any evidence of fuel leakage on ground, brought car to dealership on mon.they stated not covered under federal emissions warranty, although in California it would have been, (same fuel tank used in all ZO6's)escalated it to GM warranty customer service, left car at dealership as its unsafe to use, waiting on word weather they will honor emissions warranty and fix poor GM craftsmanship. Btw 42000miles, non tracked, no accidents,100% stock, sits in garage 5 days a week. Should be considered for a recall as I am not the only one w/this issue.

On September 13,2012 my fuel gauge stop working and it was not registering any gas level in the tank. I went to Chevrolet dealership thinking that this was a repair which would fall under my vehicle extended warranty. I found out that there was a history code that came up in my car computer at 13,700 miles that my fuel system was falling. This is a code that you as the driver do not see nor do the tech at the dealership will see unless a diagnosis testing is done. The dealership had to call GM, because this fall under the factory warranty and this is something that happens with Corvettes. The service manager stated sometime this fuel tank failure can happen at any mileage. This failure with my vehicle consist of right fuel tank had to be replace, fuel lever sensor had to be replace, fuel sensor had to be replace, line in tank had to be replace, crossover tubing had to be replace. If I know that this al fell under the GM factory warranty this would had cst me $2,024.09. This issues had to be know, this has happen with 2007 thru 2011 Corvette's this is a known issues. You as a owner must be persist with the dealership and GM they will not want to pay error that they know is going on. I had to report this to the attorney general office in Illinois and the BBB in Illinois before something was done. I just wanted other owner to be aware of this have your vehicle check for this failure.
