Same complaint by someone else on 10 September 2008. My concern is more severe in that the same fault occurred while on the race track at Watkins Glen driving down the back straight at more than 130 MPH. To quote the prior complaint: "There is a dangerous problem with my Corvette that I believe is tied to faults in the tire pressure monitoring system." In my case, I am driving on a racetrack (Traction Control system set to Competition Mode) when I felt the rear brakes activated and the car started to go sideways into a spin. I saw "Active Handling" displayed; however, there was no reason for active handling to occur. The car was displaying both front tire pressures of XX psi, and the tire pressure monitor light was on. This is a definite safety hazard that could result in loss of control or a crash.

To make matters worse, you cannot truly disable the Traction Control System. Even though I could turn the system off, it would still activate "Active Handling" while attempting to drive the track, again almost causing the car to go into a spin at high speed. So, I am out a bunch of $$ and track days.

Car will be going to the dealer to see what, if anything, can be done.

Note to GM - this is a dangerous problem that needs to be addressed. Do not treat this the same way you treated the Ignition Switch issues.
