The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that there was an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle while parked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the fuel vapors were coming from the fuel pump sending unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer spoke with the manufacturer about the failure however, the manufacturer offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated there was a strong gasoline odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that gasoline was leaking from the fuel tank onto the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 55,000. VIN was not available.

Overwhelming fuel odor after shutting car off and housing it in the garage or outside. Especially noticeable in summer when ethanol is added to fuel - heavy smell of nail polish remover inside and outside the car. Fuel vapor leak from gas tank requires $2400 repair. Other owners have complained of similar problem on the Corvette forum. Chevrolet needs to recall and replace this component on all C6 Corvettes.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the fuel pump was leaking. As a result, the fuel pump, sensor kit, and fuel pipe needed to be replaced.
