I purchased a new 2014 CORVETTE STINGRAY CONVERTIBLE on FEBRUARY 20, 2014 . It had 17 miles on it when I drove it home from the dealership. I had the radio playing and didn't notice the odd noise coming from the firewall until a later date. I now have a little over 300 miles on the vehicle and the noise hasn't changed at all.
After the new had worn-off, I noticed an annoying sound that seemed to be coming from the firewall that sounds like a couple of nylon gears rolling together with no lubrication. It is constant with the engine running and the pitch never changes and is very audible while driving down the road. The vehicle is equipped with the Z-51 package that includes the DRY SUMP oiling system. I remember hearing a similar engine noise in an older model vehicle that had a noisy oil pump gear and another engine that had a defective noisy cam gear. I would say this noise is comparable to those sounds. The noise continues even when the A/C - HEATER blower motor is turned - off.
I am at wits end and will be taking it back to the dealership soon to see if they can diagnose this pesky annoying problem. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them. Actually, that is the only complaint that I have on this BAD BOY at this time . Thanks for listening ...... PHIL VAN HORN, ANDERSON , INDIANA .. 4/28/14
