We have taken the car back to the dealer three times now for the same problem. The last time, they kept the car for 2 days and "adjusted the shift linkage" which did not fix anything. We are having two issues with this seven-speed manual transmission; assuming they are directly related to one another. Issue 1: difficulty shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear (worse when cold). Issue 2: pops out of gear when going from 1st gear to 2nd gear. Very frustrating to say the least; other than that, we love, love the car. Please let us know if anyone finds a fix.

the shift from first to second is quite balky and crunchy

There's a peculiar feature on the Corvette. A screen on the dash during acceleration in first gear will, under low load conditions, compel one to shift directly to fourth gear. If you try to access second, there's a warning you could cause damage. Now, I like to shift to second while accelerating (the joy of shifting is why, after all, I opted for the manual transmission), so I wait until the warning disappears before making the gear change. At those times, the shift is very balky and often requires significant muscle force to make sure the transmission is completely in second gear. Sometimes, I even get a gear crunch. All other shifts are normal, this just applies to the move up from first to second. Oddly, downshifitng into second from third, whether or not the automatic rev matcher is operating or I'm blipping the accelerator myself, works fine, though I still have to strong arm it to make sure it is all the way into second gear position. This is a very annoying issue, even though I have remedied it by simply shifting from first to third. I wanted a proper manual transmission because I enjoy shifting gears myself. However, were I ordering the car today, I would opt for the 8 speed automatic. One last thing...Naturally I notified the dealer service department about this. They kept the car for a day, drove it a bit and pronounced everything to be in working order.
