Cruze LT 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,800 miles

I have a 2011 4 door Chevy Cruze . Usually the way the locking system works, I get in, manually lock the doors from the dashboard button, then I start the car. When I exit the car,i shut the door, then use my remote key to lock the doors. Recently I took my handicapped 22 yr. old autistic son with me to the gas station so I could inflate my tires with air. I pulled up next to the air machine, got out of my car and my son was sitting in the back seat. As soon as I shut my drivers door, all 4 doors automatically locked up, and my remote keys were sitting on my drivers seat. I have no idea why this happened... My son is handicapped and couldn't physically unlock the door from the inside. (The door locks are impossible to pull up manually) He sat there for minutes as I tried to help him figure out a way to unlock the car door.(he understands very little simple commands) I was starting to panic. Somehow he was able to open the door with the handle from the inside, and the alarm went off. Thank god he was able to figure it out... My whole point here is what if he had been a baby in a car seat (it's 95 degrees outside right now) and was totally unable to unlock the door, My purse, phone, keys and onstar button are inside the car out of my reach. This could have been a disaster. Chevy cars should NEVER lock up like this without using a key, it's a dangerous malfunction that needs to addressed. Other parents need to know about this for them and their children's safety. From now on I carry my purse on me at all times with extra keys, so I don't get surprised like this again...Very disappointed and upset.

Cruze 1LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

All the doors on my cruze unlock with unlock button on my key except for the drivers side door which you have to have the key but then the alarm goes off. Can't even unlock it from inside the car using the power unlock button buttons. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?
