I've had an issue with my throttle body before at 72,000 miles and I was advised that the fix was as simple as just cleaning the sensor but the part has a very high failure rate and would probably need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Its an issue that Chevy acknowledges but refuses to recall. I'm a poor college student so I went with the cleaning.

Now here we are 10 months later and once again I was driving in a snowstorm in Vermont only to have my car shudder, the check engine light come on, lose traction control, and then my "engine power greatly reduce". I was in the left lane at a red light during rush hour so I pulled into the left turn lane and very slowly (4mph) pulled into a parking lot while trying not to get hit by a semi because the green arrow had long changed by the time I was able to pull off the road. I immediately knew what the issue was because it had happened before and had it towed to New England Automotive again.

When it arrived the check engine light was off and everything was fine but the car had thrown a code for the throttle body position sensor. I was advised to get the replacement because the sensor was much more corroded than it was last year and could possibly go again soon and I had to drive 700 miles that weekend and 2,000 miles in a month or so. My shifting and even my fuel efficiency have improved with the repair, I'm just mad that I had to replace the part at only 78,000 miles.

Throttle body assembly went out on my wife and stranded her on a rather cold night in Missouri. Had just about zero acceleration and she was just barely able to get it off of a rather major road. Due to the low mileage, Chevy did volunteer to tow it to a dealer...who hinted at it being covered under warranty and I authorized them to look at it. Next morning after calling and finding out things were nearly done (they never received my authorization for a paid repair) drove back up there in the loaner to find out it was not covered under warranty and had to pay to get my car back (no other option as they wouldn't give us back the loaner). This is not my first issue with this car on something that I felt should be covered under warranty to find out that Chevy has fine print to not cover it.

Definitely a pain. Would start car and as I was driving everything lights up and says engine power reduced and my car would only crawl. You have to turn the car off and then start again. Check engine light would stay on....Nice $420 expense! AWESOME!

Throttle body is not part of the engine so you will be charged to have it repaired/replace if it breaks around 65000km.. Thank you Cruze.
