Cruze LTZ 1.4L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

Radio worked intermittently for a year. I suspected it needed a software update, but my dealer told me they "don't do that". (I've found out that's not true after the fact, but that didn't stop them from charging me $100 at the time). 1 year later it completely died - black screen of death. Paid another $100 to have them tell me it was "dead" and would cost $2k to replace.

I had seen on forums that sometimes their infotainment hotline provided assistance that the dealer could not. My consultant was completely rude and abrasive for no reason. I am now trying to figure out how to fix this on my own. In the meantime I have no radio, navigation, obstacle detect, turn signal audio... completely unacceptable design and customer experience from the company on all fronts.

Cruze LT

All audio goes out intermittently. It seems to come back on if I run the defrost on cold, but that may just be a happy coincidence. From what I've read, it's related to a faulty battery cable and GM won't replace it past 120,000 miles. Mine is now at 121. Also, when the radio does work, it won't turn off when you turn the car off, so it drains the battery, warranting a jump.
