Cruze LT 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,400 miles

Have noticed this problem within 6 months of new car purchase. Recently drove 3400 mile vacation trip, when the intermittent noise occurred, we found that by pushing up on the rear view mirror area, the flute noise goes away. Nor sure what to do next. Seeking a GM authorized repair option.

Cruze LT RS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 250 miles

While driving my 2012 Cruze at speeds over 45 mph, I would get an annoying, loud flute noise. Took it to a dealership who said they could not recreate the noise and determined there was no problem. Everyone that ever rode in my car heard this noise except the technicians! Techs suggested it could have something to do with my air conditioning vents and to try not to use the air so much. It was near 100 degrees here most of the summer and if I buy a car with air, I damn sure expect to be able to use it. After one year with this car, I dumped it and bought a Kia. I am done with GM.

Cruze LT 1.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 14,000 miles

This noise was loud enough to drive my wife to tears. She says it sounds like a very loud version of someone blowing over the top of a coke bottle. Started immediately after having engine shield midsection removed by Chevy dealer for recall fire hazard. Sound occurs between 55-75 depending on wind direction.

I am guessing it is a change in airflow under the car and may be interacting with holes in the under body “frame”.

At times can be low in volume like tire tread wear problem, but it must get some sort of resonance in certain situations because my wife & daughter opened sunroof and turned on radio and could still hear it.

I recommend replacing the modified engine shield with an original to see if it stops.

Cruze LTZ 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

Wind noise driver side at window area, dealer has looked at 3 times replaced window seal, Noise still there, GM TEC center involved they know of condition but will not address. I guess it's not there car and they don't care. Dealer was told do not address condition. That's poor on someone's part. Sure wish Chevrolet and GM had there be totally satisfied or being it back option when I bought my new Cruze, they could have it back, As I don't enjoy driving my new Chevrolet Cruze,

Word of advice to anyone looking at a Cruze, make sure you test drive it, if it has a wind rushing noise by drivers ear area, it will not get corrected. Guess if I have a road trip to go on I will need to wear an ear plug in my left ear. You would think if they have no wants to fix it, they would supplie ear plugs.
