The seat belts on the 2011 Chevy Cruze and the 2012 Chevy Cruze are terrible. 50 years ago, seat belts were poor. They were under constant tension and would continually ratchet tighter as you drove. Then manufacturers improved them so that you would only feel a slight amount of tension and the seat belt would stay in position once you put it on. The Chevy Cruze has not only reverted to the old style of seat belt, it has also increased the pressure. Now the driver and passengers are extremely uncomfortable from the constant pressure on the shoulder and stomach. This is a real distraction when driving and it only increases the longer you are in the car. I called Chevrolet and was told "Pull the seat belt through the latch buckle to relieve pressure on my stomach". This was an extremely ignorant and stupid statement. The minute you release the seat belt, the extreme pressure instantly pulls the seat belt tight again.
