My Diesel Cruze has 20K miles on it. I've had it a few months, and put 8000 miles on it. Suddenly a message says "reduced engine power" and the turbo stops working. The Chevrolet dealer said that the diesel particulate filter is dirty, and it needs to go through a "regen" to clean it. He asked me if I've shut it off while the car was trying to do a regen on it's own. It's never had any message about a regen while I've owned it. He needs my approval to do a $320 regen first to see if there is a problem. If they find a problem then it will be covered under warranty, if not I will have to pay for it. Now they are telling me there is nothing wrong with the car and I owe $320. How can it be possible for the car not to go into regen like it was supposed to, if there isn't a problem? I'm under full warranty and have to pay $320 to fix a car. The car is supposed to do this on it's own.
I was very leery about buying a diesel from GM, and my fears were confirmed. Terrible customer service. Should have purchased an import I guess.
