My ignition key was stuck in the switch. I wiggled the key up and down and it came out. I called the dealer service department and they told me that the keys were made in Canada where the car was made and they used inferior metal for the keys. I had new keys made and have not had a problem.

I bought the car used on November 1, 2012 with 72000 miles. The key never was secure to start with. Being that it was used I thought that it was supposed to be that way. Well, I was wrong. Come to find out if I didn't replace it I could have had significant issues. Cost me $400 to repair it and now to hear that GM has had a major recall on the ignition switches but not in the 2005 Equinox concerns me. It is the same issues as the other cars that GM recalled so it doesn't make much sense to me.
