This vehicle is one of several that have been reported to have problems with wheel speed and psi sensors, which then causes the traction control to believe computer wise it has no traction, therefore the light is always on and the computer sometimes shut the traction control off when it needs to be on. It also has airbag trouble with the passenger seat, also like the recall. However, despite the fact 2007's were issued this recall, it's saying my 'VIN' does apply to these recalls. Find that hard to believe when these things are messed up. Just want GM motors to awknowledge it's possible that this vehicle was mismanufactured.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to move forward when in drive, failed to retain brake fluid, and suddenly decelerated. In addition, the brakes seized several times intermittently. The contact stated that the stability traction control and brake lights illuminated randomly when the failures occurred. The dealer (john thornton Chevrolet, 1971 thornton rd, lithia springs, ga 30122, (678) 303-4071) indicated that there was brake contamination and provided extensive diagnostic testing, but did not specify which parts needed to be replaced. The contact was uncertain if there was a permanent remedy to repair the vehicle. An independent mechanic stated that the ABS would need to be further inspected and that the brake master cylinder may need to be replaced. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were not available. Consumer stated brakes lock up car come to a complete stop stablity traction control, light comes on, try to put car in drive won't move at all, brake pedal sticking, won't raise all the way back up updated 9/25/18

Airbag light, TPMS, stability light, headlight and taillights go out alot. Called Chevy place aout recalls and was told mine is not recalled but problems with my car are same as recall. They fixed gas line recall, took it to where I bought it 2 or 3 times but never got fixed. My speedometer also been out since getting car brake lights always coming on as well, other problems as well. Doesnt seem Chevy makes a good vehicle.

My son was driving his 2007 Chevy Equinox around 50 mph and noticed a smell coming from the brakes. He got home and told me they were dragging. I checked them after they cooled down. My initial thought was worn pads. I pulled the wheels and calipers and pads were good. However I could not compress the dual pistons back into the housing on either side until I loosened the bleeder screw. Being careful to not get air in the system, I was able to get the pistons back into the housing to make sure they were not stuck. I reassembled the brake system and tires. I tried to put the brakes to force the front pistons back out, but I had no pressure. I started the vehicle to see if the brakes were working, no they aren't. now I have no breakes, front or rear! fluid will not flow back to master cylinder nor will fluid flow to calipers. My question is, master cylinder or ABS module.

2997 Chevy Equinox - the car was in motion around 60mph, while driving the brakes activate by themselves and the ABS, stability track lights come on. The vehicle stalled in the interstate several times. The car would not move when I accelerate. It seems at if all the brakes are active and not allowing the car to move. After almost getting clipped by a semi I had to think fast. I read the manual and found the ABS fuses. In order to move the car I have to remove the ABS motor fuse and the ABS system fuse. This bypasses the system and the car is able to move. I have taken to a mechanic and they replaced dealer parts ABS module and ABS modulator "motor". I paid $1800 for the repair. Car has same issue as I drove a way from shop. When it stalled after repair I removed the fuses again and drove it back to the shop for repair again. Shop says these parts replaced are dealer parts and they will replace again with new parts. Called the Chevrolet dealership on this and they mention that there is no issue/recall with this at the time. The car has $80K miles and has been at the shop for two weeks still under diagnostics to try to determine the cause. Frustrated!

My wife was driving when the brakes began to seize and there was a burning smell. She continued to attempt to drive and the car was slow to accelerate which caused the car to overheat. The warning light came on and advised to turn off ac and stop car. She stated that the brake pedal was very hard to press. She stopped the car allowed it to cool down then proceeded to cautiously drive home. I immediately drove it and noticed a slight burn scent but the car seemed to be ok other than the power brakes were no longer functional. After the car sat for 6-7 hours I drove it for about 1/2 hour with the power brakes now functioning. I took it to the shop and had entire system (calipers, rotors, pads, lines, etc.) examined and at that time it could not be replicated. My wife drove it the following day and after 25 minutes of interstate driving the power brakes were again not functioning. She parked it for 3 days at the airport and upon her return the power brakes worked for about 15 minutes before they no longer worked.

On 7-7-14, while driving home from the doctors' office, the vehicle slowed down. It was like I was driving on a washboard and was very hard to steer. When I pulled off the road and was backing up to park, it was as though I had no power steering. I turned the ignition switch off for a few seconds, and when I restarted the vehicle, I pressed on the brake pedal and attempted to move the shift lever, it would not move until I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I could. Then the vehicle responded normally. This problem has occurred on several occasions. In June 2014, we took the vehicle to the dealership in an effort to correct the problem. They readjusted the brake pedal switch. I had no problem until 7-7-14. We took the vehicle back to the dealership and they quoted us a cost of over $600 to replace the traction control module because they told us that it was unrelated to the first incident. However, the vehicle was doing the same exact thing as the first time we took it in. After reading other complaints identical to mine, I'm not very comfortable with what I'm being told regarding this problem. I'm the primary driver of this vehicle, since my husband suffered a stroke on 2-18-2013. Too bad you buy a vehicle and do not feel safe driving it. I hope no one is injured or killed before something is done to correct this problem.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while traveling 15 mph, the traction control light illuminated and immediately after the shocks and the brakes engaged independently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle decelerated and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure recurred only once. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 86,000. Updated 8/19/14 updated 8/29/2017

The vehicle just started to slow down, it was difficult to steer to get off the road. It felt like the car was locking up. There was a strong burning smell. I was concerned that there would be a fire. The vehicle would not go backward or forward. A tow truck had to be called. The diagnosis was the power brake booster, which they replaced. Two weeks later the car locked up again. Now they are saying the entire braking and stabilizer system has to be replaced.

I took my car into a power Chevrolet dealership back in September, they said there had been a recall for the coils/spark plugs. They fixed the issue, as my car had been stalling as I accelerated. Now, recently my electric stability traction light came on, along with my engine and "service brakes" light. I had my brakes done back in October at the same time as they replaced the coil. My car is starting to stall and do the same as it was back in October. I am not sure why Chevy is not recalling or sending out notices about these issues. It's hazardous. I contacted a lawyer.

While driving the Chevy 2007 Equinox, the brake pedal felt spongy, so I took it in to Chevy thorobred for a safety check. I was told by service that it was my master cylinder going out and that it needed to be replaced. I asked if this item was covered under power train warranty; it was not.could this be due to poor materials/ or something he could not say. I said that my auto had 58833 miles is that kinda early for such a part to brake down? I will look on the internet to see if there was a recall notice.

It happen at an intersection. I stopped at a red light. When I went to pull away the brakes were solidly applied without my foot being on the brake pedal. I ut it in park and pumped the brakes. When I tried to start driving again everything was released. It has happened a few times since and after reading online it seems many people are having the same issue.
