problem #1

Equinox LTZ 2.4L Dohc, 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

While on an extended road trip a week ago, noticed that the IP display would dim and then brighten after a while. Not sure why. Now, today, when I put the key in the ignition and turned it, everything was dark, no start, and the key would not release from the ignition. Absolutely no power to anything. I had to connect my battery charger and then got the IP lights and the key released. Indicator on charger showed battery was completely dead and is now charging up. When this occurred, the car had been in our garage since being driven two days ago without incident.

This is the original battery and there were no DIC indications of any problems related to it or the charging system. In another posting I read that they had a " 2 year" battery. If this is what was put in the vehicle, it's news to me that they would use something so inferior. Unfortunately to look at the battery labeling requires removing some kind of electrical module bolted above it.

Don't want to have to go to a dealer for a witch hunt and have them find "nothing," other than how to write up a pricey service invoice saying the extended warranty doesn't cover it.
