I have a 2010 Equinox and three years ago had to have a new engine put in it because of timing chain and catalytic converter problems. The engine was blown!! Here we are three years later and it is blown again!! The new engine didn't last 3 years!! It is the same exact problem. My car lost complete power going 75 miles an hour in the passing lane of the highway with 2 children and my mother in the car!! I was right beside a semi and a semi was right behind me!! I was thankfully able to pull over and the car did restart. Still driving it eventually did breakdown on the side of the road.
When my husband checked the oil, there was none! The oil had been changed and it was well within the 3,000 miles before the next oil change. This is the most horrible car and the most unsafe vehicle I have ever owned. It has done this twice now and I have owned it less than 5 years! The Chevy dealership said it wasn't covered etc..... It is a know problem and they know about it, there are literally hundreds of the same complaint!! Now, for the second time I have had to deal with a blown motor, the work has been done on it but I still can't pick it up because there is still a check engine light on and they somehow can't figure out what is causing it!!! This is the 3rd week without a car for the 2nd time in 5 years!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR EVER!! I used to be a Chevy lover and have had a Blazer and 2 Tahoe's that I loved! Never again!!!

oil consumption is high due to bad piston rings. I purchased this vehicle when it was only 2 years old with 65k miles and it has been a pain ever since. The engine light and other electrical problems are constant. And now its a problem with oil consumption so I'm back and forth to the oil change place to get the oil topped off just so the engine doesn't blow from low oil. I truly hate this vehicle and wish I never purchased it.

check engine light came on. took to auto zone to have code read. actuators were noted, then the vehicle was towed to dealership where it was checked over and the solenoids were replaced.

This car was taken in for an oil change. Shortly after the check engine light came on. Tried to get a smog check but it didn't pass. Has been impossible to get a dealer to check it. Took if to a couple of mechanics. The last one checked the camshaft senor, because that is what the code says what is wrong. Cost 500 dollars for that. Light was off. Parked the car for a couple of hours, when restarted the check engine light came back on. Now the mechanic thinks the timing belt needs to be replace. Estimated cost between 2 and 3 thousand dollars. 3 years before took it to the dealer complaining about the vehicle jumping while idleing. Told my wife they would do a "Mini Tune Up" never heard of such a thing, the vehicle was still running rough. Ready to get rid of this for another type of vehicle.

My suv check engine light came on took it to get check and it's major problem, to the point where I was told to just get home and don't drive it anymore

This is the second trip-got fixed this time. They should have been able to tell me the first time what the problem was. Chevy designed this car to keep their mechanics busy- BIG PIECE OF CRAP-

This was the first issue that I had many with this vehical-It is poorly designed-Piece of crap actually. Tthe check engine light came on- they said they fixed it-got home-guess what- light came on-took back the next day-guess what it needed a catalytic converter-Guess what there goes another $1341.92.

First trip to the shop-Recall fixed it. Did not worry about it too much

The check engine light has been coming on for the last couple of months. It seems to do it when the engine runs rough. When the dealership hooks the computer up to diagnose the problem, it won't generate a code to tell them what the problem is. So, they just use the computer to manually turn off the light.

My husband and I purchased this 2010 Equinox in July of 2011 and the check engine light first came on in Sept. or Oct. and would go on and off. At first I thought it had to do with how my husband was getting gas and that was what was causing the light to remain on and then shut off on it's own.
Then in Dec. 2011 the Stability Track light would come on with the Check engine light. This has happened quite often since then and the check engine light only stays on for about 24-48 hours and then shuts off.
ERRRrrr so annyoing. I need to get this problem fixed once and forall!

My check engine light came on last week & I already had my truck scheduled with the dealership for transmission issues. They charged me $110 for (1) hour of diagnostic testing & it threw (1) code... Camshaft Actuator Solenoid. The dealership states it will not cause any problems to my vehicle what-so-ever if it's not replaced @ $185 and it may or may not prevent my truck from shifting hard. I was also informed my transmission is going out. I'm worried sick over repairs I cannot afford & shouldn't be responsible for, as Chevy should have issued recalls years ago! I AM SO OVER CHEVY & GM!!! And... I will not quit RANTING and BLASTING them until they do something to fix all of this!!!
