The vehicle was running just fine for 2 months after purchasing, after a 4 hour trip, the engine began to tick / knock Which gave an engine code for knock sensor. After researching, and finding the Knock sensor adjusts the Camshaft position sensor, and the camshaft position sensor adjusts the crankshaft position sensor, which in turn adjusts the Knock sensor (yep that is right... a full 360 degree of engine timing destruction), All sensors adjust the timing chain adjusters of the car to tighten the timing chain of the engine, however..... When all this failure occurs, the chain becomes so constrained it literally self damages the bolt sheering off part of the head of the bolt for the timing guide. Thus snapping the puny plastic timing guide into bits and pieces to clog the oil pan, sending unit, and all the various sensors.

Worse yet, after the chain slapped around inside the timing cover for a small period of time (whatever time it takes you to get the car somewhere off the road) it has already begun cutting off more than half of the threaded end of one if not two of the MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS! The sad but true portion to this tale of caution, is that GM Motors has not yet fixed this problem and deny any of it, so even the after market part replacements will only break once again in the near future. This is one of the few cars I have ever seen that in my personal opinion was a lemon before it even made it off the assembly line.

GM Motors also used this same exact design of the 2.4L Ecotec engine in the 2010 - 2012 Equinox, AND the 2010 - 2012 GMC Terrains.
