Engine cylinders & seals are faulty and easily crack causing the car to STOP /STALL WHILE IN DRIVE! I NEARLY HIT A SEMI-TRUCK BECAUSE THE CAR STOPED MID DRIVE AND THE CAR JERKED SO HARD THAT THE WHEEL JERKED TO THE SIDE AND THEN LOCKED!! AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO GLIDE IN A CIRCLE BECAUSE IT DIDNT STOP ALL THE WAY I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID THE SEMI, WHAT SAVED MY LIFE WAS THE CLEAR ROAD THAT ALLOWED THE SEMI TO GO AROUND ME!! MY CAR LITERALLY SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ACROSS THE YELLOW LINE! This issue persists and corrupts the ENTIRE fuel system, catalytic conveyer, resonator, and timing chain SIMULTANEOUSLY! This causes each owner to replace the entire engine because it simply can not be fixed. Fixing or repairing one of the components does NOT fix the issue or stop the engine from failing, all must be replaced! Even after replacing it all THE SAME THING HAPPENS TO THE NEW ENGINE! This is a engine malfunction. The entire car/engine/blueprint should be destroyed and recalled!!! Even the mechanics and dealers are asking why these vehicles still exist and saying that the engine for this car is junk and it-??s so common for this to happen to the point that there are NO USED ENGINES FOR UNDER $2500!!! Majority of the mechanics are even REFUSING to repair/replace the engine in this car because it-??s a waste of time & money because the next engine NEW OR USED will do the same EXACT thing!! NO ONE IS GOING TO PAY $10,000+ for a NEW ENGINE or even $2500+ for a USED ENGINE PLUS $2000+ FOR LABOR ONLY FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM TO HAPPEN AFTER SPENDING $5000 - $12000+

I have had my vehicle for only a year and bought it used from a dealership here in town. I understand that the vehicle is nearly 12 years old though I have seen vehicles that were way older and not have half the problems that I am having with mine and it has been well keep and maintenance has been up to date. Early this week my car had been warming up for nearly 30 minutes and I put it in drive and it jerk harder then normal. I just thought it was because it went from hot to cold outside overnight that that was the problem. Though as I was driving down the street my check engine light came on and the vehicle was stalling in between 35-40 mph. So I got it check out and the code said that it was a transmission shift solenoid. I then took it to Chevy to make sure that, that was the issues and the dealership Penske Chevrolet confirmed that it was and that many of the Equinox-??s, cruzes, and traverses from the year 2009 until 2019 Health exact same issue and that several people did the complaint form in their dealership I did research online and it-??s true many people complain about this issue but I think they don-??t know where to go to file a proper complaint. I think that this problem not being recalled is absurd because it-??s costing people nearly 4, five, $6000 because of this issue when if many and I do mean many people are having this issue then chevy needs to fix this.

After refueling vehicle, I noticed a strong gas odor that did not go away for several days. I took the vehicle the a Chevy dealer who identified the problem as a cracked fuel tank connector, as shown in the attached photo. Apparently GM has recognized the issue and has since redesigned the part, as shown in the second attached photo. This vehicle has under 80K miles, has never been in an accident, nor had any other incident that would have caused the part failure. The failure appears to be a stress crack due to a defective, over-stressed, poorly designed, or poorly assembled part. In short, this part should not have failed. Furthermore, the failure represents a dangerous situation, due to the fuel leak that occurred. The repair was on the order of $1500, because the dealer indicated that both the gas tank and filler neck needed to be replaced. This is a substantial repair for a relatively low-mileage vehicle.

2.4-liter ecotec engines suffer from the defect that consumes oil at a very high rate. The primary cause of the defect is malfunctioning piston rings, which are prone to premature wear, the judge's order states. The defect necessitates the need for the car owner to replenish the car's oil more frequently. We change oil every month because of this problem but now is worse because is coming now white smoke and shaking all the engine so its now out of road my Equinox so I am waiting for this solution from GM but not answers.

Vehicle is burning astronomical amounts of oil, even when car is sitting. Car runs rough and idles and acts as if it will stall out. The ABS and traction control lights have come on. Car acts like it won't start and takes a few times before it actually starts up. Have replaced so many parts and of course at 155,000 miles for a 2010 Equinox we don't qualify under the pending lawsuit. Car is parked because it uses so much oil.

Driving down the road my power engine lite comes on and acts like it is going to cut off, some times it does. My ABS lite comes on at anytime, when coming to a stop my brakes slip and acts like it does not want to catch, brakes are new! also the 2010 uses about 4 to 5 qt in between oil changes and there is no leaks. Defogger does not work at all. And know having engine problems. Have changed the O2 sensor still says they need to be changed, have changed the manifold and says that still needs O be changed, engine light stays on. Stabilliy track light comes on all the time as well. This has been happening for over 6 years!

I had my Equinox repaired under the recall for oil consumption, yet it is still burning oil. The heat and ac are not working properly, to get heat I have to turn the dial back and forth and maybe it will work most of the time I have to drive about a half a mile for it to blow heat. The ac is just not working at all. The info panel in the center of the dash will go out and come back on later. While driving, the car will just slow down like I'm not pressing the accelerator at all. The transmission seems to get stuck in a gear causing the rpms to rise and stay until I take my foot off of the accelerator. The car makes a clicking sound when turning. It shakes at 60 mph. Also I have replaced headlights 2 times in the last year.

General Motors have been at no assistance to me since my purchase of my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox I purchased it February/March of 2016 and have had continuous issue with the vehicle, I contacted the place of purchase and General Motors numerous times about the complaint of my vehicle. Also with the attached proof of repairs I referred to the dealers who did the repairs and General Motors of any current recalls. Back in October 2019 my check engine light came on because my converter went out and my 100K warranty expired, GM was not in understanding and would not assist. Then I did my own research and found there was a oil consumption law suite and a separate special extended warranty in the catalytic converter but only until 120K. My issue is General Motors will not assist me due to me being over the 120K mileage even though I inquired about it time after time since the time I purchased the vehicle. I have kept up to date in my address even when I moved out of state. I'm just looking for assistance in why my vehicle is not covered under the law suite or covered with the special warranty with my catalytic converter. I never received any mail notification and all my repairs were done at a licensed certified general motor dealer and they are aware of this issue/recalls and I was not told of the issues. I would just like to get my vehicle fixed since I spent so much money on it as it is. I had to do my own research online to find this information which could of been avoided if I was contacted front the beginning. I was never notified of a recall but once back in 2016 for a windshield wiper recall

Car was dying when I tried to pull out onto the road, city street from a stop sign.was almost hit. My grandaughter is just learning to drive and I am scared to death to let her drive it. Running after key taken out, running very ruff. Check engine light kept going on & off as well as stabli trac warning.smelled like catalytic convertor burning took to dealer to have diagosed and they said high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. Engine had high content of fuel scanned and had excessive amaount of rich codes and misfire codesthat there was fuel getting in my oil said there was a recall but not on my VIN. Saw other complaints same problem that were told VIN wasn't right. Cost me $500 to fix bought this car brand new and had to get a new engine at 62,000 and new pistons & cracked manifold replaced at 102,000. I had taken the car to dealer a few years ago for same issue and engine light had gone off and they said they could not find anything wrong. Out of warranty now and finally diagnosed the problem.getting ready to buy 2 cars and I will never by another Chevy or GM car again.going with the foreigns. I think these cars are all lemons.I have seen others that were also told wrong VIN but same issue, needs investigated. I have already recieved invitation for class action suit on this darn car! really

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving, the check engine and stability control warning indicators illuminated, and the engine would stall. The vehicle was taken to ferman Chevrolet (9751 alamo dr, tampa, fl) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact indicated that the high pressure fuel pump was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.

Takata recall: My cars engine is running extremely rough, it's idling very "bumpy" and seems to sputter, stalling out (while driving or stopped) and continuing to run a few seconds after I turn it off and the check engine keeps coming on and going off. When I took it in to see what was going on with it, the tech explained that my high pressure fuel pump is what is causing all the issues. I was talking to a friend about it and she sent me a link showing me that a recall was done on my make and model so I called my local Chevy dealership and they show nothing for my VIN. Upon calling the actual Chevy number listed on the site where we saw the recall they explained that even though my car is having the same issues for the part being recalled, my VIN is not included and that I will have to pay out of pocket. This is extremely frustrating! after finding this website I started reading complaints and the same thing is happening to another person with the same vehicle. I understand that these cars are made in different locations and the parts in those locations may be made differently then the parts in others but if we are having the same issues, I would think that another investigation needs to be opened and another recall needs to be issued including all VIN's for this make and model. If this has to be paid out of pocket a little help would be appreciated too. This is an expensive fix.

A year after I purchased my used Equinox my water pump went out. While at the dealership they realize that my opinions have been worn and my timing chain needed to be replaced. Less than 6 months after my engine light popped on.. this car has been unreliable almost the whole time I've owned it. Last March I replace the timing chain again. After much research I realize that my timing chain keeps getting destroyed because the high pressure fuel pump is leaking gas into my crankcase. Chevy has put out a recall for my make and model vehicle but my VIN is not listed. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be listed especially since I am experiencing the same symptoms that is listed in the bulletin.

Our 2010 Chevy Equinox was working fine. Last week we came to a stop at a stop sign... heard a bang noise and it started to idle rough, and shut off at stop sign ( hard to even know...since radio still playing). Also sounds like a thrashing machine.... check engine light came on and has since gone off and back on and back off. What is the best correction for this safety issue. Continues to shut off at stop signs. "??"

I purchased this car as used. When I first bought it there was a ticking sound that could barely be heard. The dealer said that was common. For vehicles sitting in the lot. I brought the car back once it got a little louder and they said most fuel pumps make that sound overtime but there was no issue. And that the manifold was causing the loud noise and gas smell. And needed to get repaired. That was during the warranty period.now an year later. A week ago my car started making the same sound again and been getting louder. My check engine was blinking a D I noticed the car wasn't driving as smoothly and was using up more gas.an engine power reduced light came on and my engine just cut off.I had to get it to towed to a shop and there is an issue with the fuel pump pressure. I see there have been a lot of issues with fuel pump on this vehicle and a tsb recall. This is a safety concern as it is causing the engine to cut off. This happens to me on a busy street. Thank god I wasn't on the highway I get on to go to work
