This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
I feel depressed when car companies do not take responsibility for the trash they sell, but if you do not make you payment they do hold you responsible. As a single mom, I really made a sacrifice to buy a car from a dealer. I made my monthly payments and I had car issues only 1
month after purchasing the car and from there on every month the engine light will come on and off. I had no money to keep paying a deductible, so I stopped taking it to be checked. Just when I had finished paying that junk off, the engine gave up and I no longer had a car. I paid about 33000 thousand dollars for nothing.

No indication of a problem - no engine lite - no nothing - Had to have it towed to a repair shop. Diagnostic test result Trans axle Pressure Control Solenoid P0796 Engine Code. Pressure Control Solenoid P0700- Major Driving Impact. Cost $4600.00. With only 61,200 miles that shouldn't have happened. I don't know if I have any recourse or not. With the age and condition of the vehicle I was told to have it repaired as opposed to getting rid of it.

This is from October 2017 I purchased a certified 2010 Chevy Equinox in 2014 with 48,000 miles and since then I have added 12,000 miles. On 10/14/17 while trying to cross a busy intersection US 19 and Hudson Avenue, the car began to jump and the engine was revving up to 4000 rpm, it kept stuttering and jumping so I made a U-turn and took it to the dealership, Castriota Chevrolet in Hudson.Â
The next day they told me that the car needed a new transmission, apparently the 3-5-reverse wave plate had broken into pieces inside the transmission and since the warranty had just run out I would be stuck with the repair cost.
The cost for the repairs are - rebuild by the dealer $3,600 (12 mo unlimited mile warranty)or replacement of a factory rebuild transmission $4,600 (3 yr. unlimited mile warranty) . I did some research and found the same problem has existed for a very long time. GM extended the warranty for the 2008/2009 Equinox for the exact same reason, but apparently they did not fix the problem and so it continues into newer model year cars. I googled 2010 Chevy Equinox transmission problems and there are 100's of people with the exact same problem. So I contacted Chevrolet and was told that they would look into it and contact me In the meantime I got a call from the dealership telling me that GM was willing to discount the repair to $2,520 +tax. Â I had no other option other then to have the repair done. Total $2,696.40 Now with a new problem that GM was fully aware off - the air-compressor and condenser need to be replaced. GM is offering a laughable $160 towards the $1,560 repair People need to be made aware of the problems with GM vehicles.

$4300can. for a transmission after only 81000 KM? Are you kidding me? GM knows this problem for awhile now and they do nothing. I called the customer service in Oshawa to complaint and the only answer we received, they were very sorry, they can't do anything for us. Arrive at a stop, restart, heard a KLUNK and nothing on the gas pedal. Transmission was done. At the dealer, they put the code reader on it and no codes appeared. I know personally 2 other owners in my family with the same problem; one EQUINOX with 170000 km and a CHEVY CRUZE with 100000 km. All owners of Equinox, Terrain, Impala. Malibu, Cadillac SRX and XTS, Buick Lacrosse and Saturn Aura and even FORD with the same tranny, they developed it together, we should start a class action against GM and FORD. If serious lawyers are willing to talk about that, send me a message.

Our car is used to go to the doctor, groceries and visit family a few times a month. We bought our car used 5 years ago. We put less than 3,000 miles a year on our car and for it to need a new transmission is ridiculous. The mechanic said the transmission was so bad that it needed a new one that rebuilding it was a waste of money. We know this guy is not getting over on us because I have terminal cancer and he doesn't charge us any labor for working on our vehicles.

This had to be repaired twice within a year. Will not purchase another one.

Without a car until transmission was replaced at dealer.

Was on my way home an hour and a half away, and all of a sudden no power, engine was running, press the gas would not go.. Had it towed home for $195.00. Dealer said it needed a new transmission $$$$ no warranty, 2010 Chevy Equinox 55,000 miles.. Love my Equinox but Chevy has to do something about this. I take care of my car, oil is changed every 3,000 miles, tires rotated, belts, fluid levels checked, all done at the dealership... If I needed brakes, tires,or anything, even the recall, the dealer did it .. Now at 55,000 miles I need a transmission???

We originally bought the Chevy equinox 2010 in 2014 never had any problems with 65,000 miles.
NOW the big problem!!! I was driving down the freeway during rush-hour traffic and my car just stopped NO WARNING OR NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF CAUSE the engine was still running but there was no flow from the acceleration moving the car at all but I was able to drift the car to the side and come up on the ramp. Other cars almost ran into the back on me sitting on the exit ramp.
Had towed back to dealership they say the transmission went out. Not cover due to expired warranty at 100,000,
But this should be COVERED UNDER A RECALL STATUE SINCE SO MANY BUYER HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES!!!!
GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM!!!!
I WILLINGLY JOIN THE RECALL EFFECT IF THE OPINION BECOMES AVAILABLE!!!!!!!

Transmission started slipping and slowly losing gear by gear.

On 10/25/17 on was on my way home from work when my transmission failed. It felt as if my car slipped into neutral so, I pulled over to check if my arm might have hit the shifter. When I began to accelerate it felt like my vehicle wouldn't go any where, no power. I kept driving so I could at least make it home. I parked my car in the driveway and went into the house. When I came back out I tried putting it in reverse and it wouldn't move. I had it towed to a garage and the next day the mechanic said it was my transmission. When I heard this from the mechanic I was in disbelief because my car only had 41,000 miles on it . It was barely broken in and you would never think something so major would go on a vehicle. At that point I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to call GM.They asked me to tow to a chevy dealer to have this problem diagnosed and confirmed at no cost. I continued to ask the representative if they would take care of the problem as well she answered yes. So I was kind of misled into thinking that they would pay for the repair especially since there was a number of complaints on this same issue on the GM inside news forum. My transmission was dismantled at the chevy dealer and they confirmed a failed wave plate issue. I can't believe there hasn't been some kind of recall with that many people having the same issue. Not only did I experience a defective transmission issue. I experienced customer service issues with GM as well. They gave me misleading information, they called the dealership with information on my vehicle before calling me and talked over me most of the time while talking on the phone. I can't get over how rude they were and when I tried to make a complaint they denied me any further assistance. "What a nightmare" I keep thinking I'm going to wake from this nightmare. I definitely will consider all this nonsense I experienced the next time I go to buy another Chevy vehicle.Very disappointed with GM!!!

Transmission seemed to slip out of gear while driving down the highway. Got a tow truck to tow me home, and tried to start it later and was able to drive into my driveway. I've had lesser transmission troubles before, so I tried a transmission fluid change, and drove the car down the block before it slipped out again. Was able to drive by turning the car off, letting it sit for a couple of seconds/minutes, and turning it back on, but could only ever make it a few blocks. I took the car to AAMCO and they told me it was an internal chain that is notorious for breaking in these transmissions. $3000 later, I'm back on the road. Really disappointed that Chevy did not put out a recall. Nobody should have to replace a transmission on a street driven vehicle with under 100k miles.

I bought the 2010 Chevy Equinox Feb 2016 with 50,000 miles. Had no problems until March 2017. I got about 20 feet from the drive way and the car completely slowed down so I pulled over to the side of the road. The car then would no go into drive or reverse. I get a tow to a shop and they said it showed a problem with the transmission. Towed again to a transmission shop, closest one was 30 minutes away. They said the drums in the transmission were busted. They transmission would need to be rebuild or get a new one. The car only has 66,000 miles on it. I drive it maybe 15 to 20 average a day. I live only 2 miles from my job. I have called GM, they said there was nothing they could do for me. They told me to call my dealer. I did they offered to only pay 30% of the cost. This is truly causing so much stress its unreal. I am a single mom who switched to a Chevy Equinox from a Nissan Altima because the dealer told me how reliable these cars are and with it having such low miles I would be fine. Now I am stuck with a $3200 bill that I have NO idea how I am going to pay off.

First off I generally like the SUV. Size is good, gas mileage fine, nearly everything works as it should. I purchased the 2010 Equinox new and had numerous recalls repaired by my Service Center in WI. A little over a year ago I moved to Fl and now have a 2 hr commute daily to my new job. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox only has 56700 miles on it. I started to hear a weird noise under the car about 2 weeks ago. I took it in to a shop to have it checked over on 2/11/17 and was informed that the noise was a transmission problem. The shop helped me to locate 3 different transmission companies and suggested that I drive as little as possible so as to do no further damage. I 1st contacted my old dealership in WI that told me too bad the SUV is more than 5 years old- I countered with but it only has 56700 miles on it !- silence. Sorry lady. Can you check to see if there are any recalls on my Transmission?- sorry service department is closed. End of call. I found a reliable shop who will tow my car for me on Monday. Now I need to contact a rental car place or taxi it to work until I get a clear picture on time to fix and cost. This is a giant pain in my ASS plus costly and I'm pissed at my dealer for being a jerk after 6 years of having them take care of all of my issues and maintenance on this car. Thanks for listening.

The transmissions in 2007-2009 Equinox were so bad they extended the warranty to 10 years/100000. The exact same issue happened with my car. Seems like quite a coincidence. My warranty stopped in 2014 which means the transmission had to be made in 2009 also.
There was no warning to this issue, I called GM executive line to complain. The first person that was working with me was great and then he escalated to a senior rep and I have had no resolution since then. 2 different mechanics have looked at this before it got to the GM dealer and agree it was a defect in the transmission.

There was no warning signs. GM refused to assist in the cost. Chevrolet dealership gave a price of $4400 plus tax - over $5,000 for a "new" transmission that had a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. This vehicle was a 2010 with 91,000 miles so the mileage warranty was crazy! Took the care somewhere else to have repaired for $2600. same warranty offered. This is my one and only Chevrolet purchase.

My name is Kettisha Bradley who are disable and fell victim to Vic Canever located at 3000 Owen rd. Fenton, MI. I'm so disappointed hurt stressed out and depressed. At this point in my life to the point I just don't know what to do. Because I feel like I been taken advantage of by Vic Canever car dealership.
I went to Vic Canever Jan 9,2016 and bought a 2010 Equinox with my disability back pay for $10,320.04 so that I will have some dependable vehicle. Well on May 26,2016 I was getting on 96East during rush hour express way in Livonia MI going home and all of a sudden the transmission went out and I almost got into a bad wreck. Which scared me due to the transmission going out all of a sudden. I could have been killed or seriously injured. So by the grace of God I was able to cruise over to the side of the express way when it was safe to do so. I called On Star to ask them to do a live Diagnostic on it and they couldn't pull up any thing.
I told them that something is wrong with my truck because it's not moving. So I turned off the engine and turned it back on to see if it would move so it went in drive and got up to 48mph and started making noises and then the check engine light came on. All while this was going on I was talking to On Star. Then they were able to pull up 2 codes which was P0796 and p0700 which means the transmission was going out and I was told not to drive it because I could do more damage to it. So I end up having to get it towed to Merollis Chevrolet in Eastpointe MI on the 26th.
I went up there the next morning and was told that they doesn't have a transmission mechanic so I had to get it towed to Bill's Transmission shop in Roseville MI and was actually showed my transmission fluid and it was charcoal black and very thick. I was told there's No possible way that the transmission fluid was change or checked before it was sold to me or checked at the time I got my oil changed @ Al Serra in Grand Blanc. I know my transmission fluid supposed to be cherry red and it was so black and thick.
At hat point will General Motors recall the Equinox's ? Are they waiting for someone to get killed or what? I had just dropped off my son and grandson.
I can help you with some important steps to take in order to get some help with you defective 2010 Equinox. We all must complain together to the rite person so that our voice will be heard. Reply and I'll contact you

So after nearly EVERY SINGLE problem ever reported with this model that has been reported, this was experienced with this vehicle. And then some. The dealership basically gave up and we had to go elsewhere. The last problem experienced is the death of the transmission. Almost got rear-ended because of it. I was lucky. CMA - or Carter Myers Dealerships - are just no help. Never were, and that's sad because my family and company used to do a lot of business with them. I think I'll go back through my vehicle history and post all the repairs here. That will take quite some time. Replacing the Transmission cost is more than the trade in. I've had a lot cars and this by far was THE worst lemon ever.
