First off let me just say me and my daughter is lucky to be alive! I just got off work this morning, I work 3rd shift. I went to pick daughter up from relative house and noticed I need gas. I turned right into the gas station and vehicle just shut off and start rolling backwards as cars were approaching and blowing their horns.
My daughter was frightened and so was I. I put my hazard lights on and started the engine and to my surprise the vehicle started, but I'm very scared to drive vehicle. I live in Minnesota where there are many high steep curvy hills and 95% of the time highways are used on a regular basis. This could've happened on one of the three steep hills I normally have to pass to get to work or all three for that matter!
This is the first time this has happened! I was reading other complaints regarding the same issue; this issue is very dangerous! Defiantly there is a problem if everyone is complaining about the exact same issue. Please do the right thing and consider a recall for this issue.

I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION GETTING READY TO MAKE A TURN AND WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WAS OFF. NO WARNINGS OR ANYTHING. THANK GOD THE CARS WERE NOT THAT CLOSE TO ME OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER, THEY JUST SAID BRING IT IN WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE..THAT'S BS!! THEY HAVE GOT TO KNOW AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE A FAMILY AND MY SON DRIVES THIS VEHICLE. IF HE HAD BEEN DRIVING, HE WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO DO AND THIS COULD HAVE ENDED UP A LOT WORST.

Engine shut off at intersection. Just told warranty will not cover because I cannot provide oil change receipts to prove the oil changes were done.

A lot of the problems with parking lot stalls, p0010 or p0011 on these equinox, terrains are the camshaft actuator solenoids. Here is a video on how you can fix it.

GM has many recalls on this issue but when I contact them they say they will not cover repairs. Vin not part of recall even thou it has the same issues as stated in recall. This will cause an accident or even a death when the car stalls in the middle of an intersection. GM does not stand behind there cars
Update from Oct 4, 2016: Took it to the deader now they are saying it is using oil and both intake and exhaust cam solenoid need replace and now I have to add 1 to 2 qts of oil between oil changes. Last GM I will buy

vehicle kept shutting down and had to quickly put 4-ways on and coast to stop at edge of highway. (engine power is being reduced message kept coming up) tried pumping gas pedal but nothing happened. Was extremely lucky nobody was behind me or there could of possibly been an accident, while I drove 20k to get home and could not get over 60kmh at any given time. They thought it was the throttle body, but problem pointed to timing chain. will update when i find out more info.

Hi, on this i was very happy to have picked this vehicle and I payed from this with my retirement money in cash, 22,000. This vehicle I had for one year and a few months when the engine was rattling, Took it to Dave Heinrich Chevrolet where I purchased it only to find that there was a recall on the engine, so GMC fixed the problem free of charge. Now two months later I'm back with another engine problem but this time its going to cast me 400.00. Well needless to say it's still at the shop because I can't afford to pay this kind of money for a vehicle that is less than two years old, and not to mention what I have payed out of my pocket for what was advertised as a Certified vehicle, which means to me that I should be safe from out of pocket cost for quite some time not less than two years of the purchase of 22,000 in cash. I don't think that GM is fair or Heinrich to expect me to pay for the repairs because once you start messing with the guts of the engine it is a known fact as has been noted there wil always be issues with the engine, so i was left with two option, One less a vehicle or get this one repaired again it's not fair I need to make a formal complaint to GMC.

Purchased this Equinox for my daughter to drive thinking it was a very safe vehicle for her. She was in a neighboring state on her way home when the vehicle lost power without warning and came to a stop, all power was lost. Engine message indicated "Service Stability Trak" and "Engine is losing power". She re-started the care and it occurred several times on her was home. This happened on a two lane road where she was able to pull off safely. Had she been on a crowded interstate highway she would have likely been rear ended or KILLED !!!!. Chevrolet dealer, DeNooyer, in Albany NY advised this is a COMMON PROBLEM but there is no recall yet. they are replacing the throttle body for almost $700. It is not covered by the extended warranty that I bought, said it is not part of the power train???? My daughter is afraid to drive the vehicle now and I'm not sure what to tell her.

While driving this vehicle after stopping at a stop sign, the steering wheel locked and could not accelerate further. This got me really frightened. I was able to put the gear on park once the car stalled and turn off the ignition. I then turned on the ignition and everything was normal. Once I reached my destination I turned off and on the ignition and check engine light came on. Upon taking to the mechanic they found out the cam sensor had to be replaced.

We had problems 3 months ago with the car stopping on the expressway when we were driving. Had to have it towed to dealer. But this was after the car was taken to time prior and them not finding a problem. After a complaint to GM corp office it was repaired, but just last week the problem started up again. Now car has been in shop two days with no repairs yet. This is all with a 3 year old car.

I bought this Chevy Equinox less than two months ago. Had 62k miles on it when I got it. This week it has turned off while I was driving 4 times! Once I was on the highway, luckily I was able to get over to the side before it caused an accident. Another time I was going up a hill and it turned off! I almost got rear ended. I am so disappointed in this vehicle. This is obviously a big problem that a lot of people are having. I don't understand why it is not recalled yet. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at it. I wish I would have seen these reviews before I bought it. I drove a Honda CRV for 10 years, had almost 200k miles and never had an issue. So frustrating, I will never by another Chevy.

Twice the car has stalled, several times it has hesitated and made me think it was about to stall but recovered and went on. The dealer said there is nothing wrong except that I should change the oil more often. They told me not to go by the dash computer that tells me when to change the oil (it said I had 19% left) they said I need to change it at least every 4 months. (it had been 6) Now I find out that this is a known problem, so why did the dealer try to make me feel llike it was my fault?!

Bought a brand new 2011 Chevy Equinox, only had 25 miles on the odometer. 50 Days after purchase and only 1,077 miles driven, the cars engine started to shutt off while driving. A total of five times in one day. Next day we took it to the shop where it stayed for 16 days for testing and troubleshooting. They could not find the cause of the problem. They drove the car for 96 miles to see if they could duplicate the event but the vehicle performed well. Eventhough they no not know whats causing the engine failure, they went ahead and replaced the intake and exhaust actuators and selenoids. They called me up to picp up the vehicle. My spouse, whom I bought the car for, will not drive the vehicle because she feels it's unsafe. So I am stuck with the car until the engine fails again.
We invested our hard earned monies, placed our confidence and trust on a brand new product that failed to meet our expectations. I can not understand why Chevrolet has not taken the bull by the horns and tacklled this problem. Why haven't they gathered their mechanical and electromechanical engineers and solved this problem. This is not a new issue.I have done some resaerch and found out that there are many other equinox owners that are experiencing this same problem for years and have placed their testimonies and complaints on several websites for everyone to read.
I must admitt that I did not do my homework. Had I known that Chevy Equinox vehicles had this problem, I would have never bought this vehicle. Buyer beware , do your checks and re-checks, do some research, do not rush, take your time and seek advise from unbiased and well informed individuals that are not tied into this industry. Do not get stuck with a vehicle that is sooner or later going to leave you stranded or GOD forbid cause an accident or fatality.

Engine stalled 3 times. I was trying to merge onto highway 53 when the car stalled. There was a semi coming at us at 60 mph. We could have died. This is a death trap. Recall this car!
