I PURCHASED THE 2012 EQUINOX AND WHEN I STOP AND STARTING TO DRIVE IT WILL JERK, LIKE SOMEOE HIT YOU FROM BEHIND, IT DOES NOT HAPPENED ALL THE TIME AND I AM NOTE ABLE TO TAKE A PICTURE OR RECORD IT. TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER (TWICE) AND WE DROVE AROUND WITH IT BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY ANNOYING

The transmission clunks when shifting back to a faster speed after slowing for traffic. Once, it felt as if something bumped the rear end. It doesn't happen every time but at happens very often. It doesn't seem to matter whether the weather is hot, cold, wet, dry, or in between. We would like to know if anyone else is having this experience, if there was resolution, and if this is something we should worry about.

I had a 2006 Hyundai Tucson that I drove pretty much problem free for damn near 10 years. Before it broke down I was looking at new trucks I wanted to get into. it was between the Chevy Equinox and the GMC Terrain. My heart settled onto the Equinox. So when my Tucson broke down I knew the truck wanted and where to purchase it. On Aug 4 I drove off the lot with my Chevy Equinox. But the brakes were making this god awful sound, during the test drive and the day after I left the lot. The dealership gladly replaced the rotors and the problem was solved. Never told the exact the problem but I suspect one rotor was warped.

After warming up or traveling 10 to 15 miles, the transmission whines as I come to a stop or when starting up from a stop. At times the whine is louder, but it is there. I have taken the Equinox back to the deal, but they were unable to find or hear any problems. I have gone back to the dealer and ask about finding out that my Equinox has a Saab engine and transmission and was told not all Chevrolet vehicles have Chevrolet products installed in them and did then asked if I just wanted to trade my vehicle for a new one!!!! Really that is their answer?
I am afraid the problem will get worse and the vehicle will break down and leave me stranded or the cause of an accident.

makes clunking noise after slowing down and resuming speed
The transmission clunks when shifting back to a faster speed after slowing for traffic. We know of one other person who had the same problem, was given same answer as we. "We are not able to recreate the problem." Once, it felt as if something bumped the rear end. The other person finally made mechanic ride with her and showed them what happens before she gave up and traded her Equinox in. It doesn't happen every time. It doesn't seem to matter whether the weather is hot, cold, wet, dry, or in between. We would like to know if anyone else is having this experience, if there was resolution, and if this is something we should worry about. I no longer have much faith in General Motors.

I've taken the care back to the dealer for all servicing since I purchased it in Oct 2011. I've complained about the shifting issues each time. Each time they state they can't duplicate the issue, or that the 6 speed transmission is learning how I drive...???? 31K miles now and it still learning???
Problem is that when at a steady speed, usually city driving there is a loud clunk and down shift causing you to jerk forward noticeably. I'll continue to report until something comes to light. Really has issues if slowing and then speeding back up. Annoying to say the least and dealership is less than helpful

TRANSMISSION JUST SEEMS TO SHIFT WAY TOO OFTEN, LIKE IT CANT MAKE UP IT;S MIND WHAT GEAR TO BE IN ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS

The shifting has a definite lag when I am traveling over 55. At times I stop accelerating so the shifting catches up.
