Equinox LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,000 miles

So my wife bought this vehicle brand new in 2012. Burns oil like crazy but that’s a different complaint. Transmission shifted hard on her on the interstate and goes into “limp mode”, this is where the transmission shifts to 2nd gear on its on. Very scary for my wife while going 70 MPH on the interstate. Car has 77,000 miles and this is happening. We have done every preventive maintenance that Chevy recommends and this happened. Stay far away from Chevy especially the Equinox’s. Plus the engine burns a quart of oil every 2 weeks. (Chevy says that’s normal though cause they don’t wanna recall). Me and my wife are scared to even buy another car after our experience with this one. Chevy should be ashamed of themselves but they don’t care. There CEO’s get bailed out and drive around in 200,000 cars while the normal working person spends large chunks of their incomes on crappy vehicle they make.

Equinox LT 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,688 miles

My vehicle had been shifting hard for at least a year. I informed the dealership when I would get an oil change but they never found anything wrong. When the transfer case broke (burst open) and leaked gear oil I discovered the dealer never noted I had complained about this problem before. How convenient!

The vehicle no longer shifts hard but it cost me close to $3000!!!

I expect my vehicle to perform better at 4 years old. The miles are mostly highway. I truly think the transfer case was defective from the start but there was no way to prove this since the dealership never recorded the problem in their records.
