In the normal course of street driving, "service airbag" with screwdriver icon appears and dissapears. Mechanics cannot identify problem. While driving in the rain, wipers stopped. Motor continued running. Windshield wipers transmission broken. Dashboard lights randomly dim and brighten.

2013 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to ignition problems has not been resolved by dealership. The consumer stated the problem started several months ago, when the key could not be removed from the ignition. Over a period of two week, the ignition switch was replaced three times and the shifting console was replaced once. Since the replacement, when the key was inserted into the ignition, none of the instrument lights illuminated on the dashboard, and when the key was rotated to the start position, nothing happened.

The radio failed in Oct 2015. No display or controls. Reported it to the dealer and they ordered a new radio. It took 3 months. They installed the new radio in Jan 2016. On 2/21/16, radio failed again. No controls and blank screen. Am stations appeared but it stuck on an fm station. I only started the vehicle and hadn't moved yet. I didn't receive a work order for the repair, but did on the initial complaint.

I have had my car to the dealer 4 times for the middle console that controls the HVAC, radio, camera, ect. The radio was replaced once. Now, I have a complaint with GM and they told the dealership, give the car back, there isn't anything we can do if you can't replicate it. This happens usually when I am starting the car, but happened while I was on the phone driving. The call came back when the system rebooted. These issues began around the 18K miles and I am at 31K miles now. It happens no less than twice before I take it into the shop. I had it in the shop another time because I pressed the gas peddle after a complete stop and didn't go anywhere. Then all of a sudden, I was at 3000rpms. This issue began at the 31K miles and only occurred once. Again, they couldn't replicate it, so there was nothing to fix. The car is still under original factory warranty.

I was at a stop light preparing to take a right turn on red, which is legal in Oklahoma, after coming to a complete stop, and as I had begun the turn slightly depressing the gas pedal, the car died and all lights and power was lost. I coasted the vehicle into the parking lot of a gas station that was on the corner nearest to me and after two to three minutes the car started again and everything was working as normal. Many times while driving, night or day, the forward collision alert will begin beeping and flashing as if you are about to have a forward collision with another vehicle, yet there is nothing in front of you literally for miles at some times. This also causes the brakes to be depressed and the car to slow down, even on the highway, when the forward collision alert system malfunctions. Also, the display for the radio and various other functions of the vehicle has on several occasions froze the image on the screen and not allowed any air, radio, or any other functions to be able to be changed, sometimes for several hours. Also the rear door will sometimes remain locked when all other doors are unlocked with the remote control unit and/or the buttons in the vehicle. There is definitely something going on with the electrical system in this vehicle and I have an appointment to take it in to the dealership I am purchasing the vehicle from, on this upcoming Friday July 3rd, 2014.

The vehicle was stopped. All four passenger doors would not open and the occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. The occupants attempted to open the doors by releasing the door locks (the door lock buttons popped up) and by using the door handles without success. The occupants were able to roll down the windows and tried the external door handles without success. The occupants contacted onstar for assistance. Onstar was unable to release the door locks. Onstar involved emergency onstar assistance over the telephone, without success. The occupants remained trapped inside the vehicle. Onstar instructed the driver to drive to the nearest Chevrolet dealer for assistance. While enroute to the dealership, on the highway traveling 65-70 mph, the rear, driver-side door released and opened, resulting in the lighting of the dome lights and the "door ajar" indicator on the dash. There were occupants in the back seat of the vehicle at the time, on the driver-side. Once arriving at the dealership, the vehicle was placed in park. The front-passenger door opened. The rear, driver-side door opened. However, the front, driver-side door did not open and remained latch after several attempts. Eventually, the driver door opened and all occupants vacated the vehicle. The vehicle was turned over to the service department.

The car lost power, all lights on the dashboard disappeared, engine stopped running enroute to toronto on 12/31/2014 without any warning I was driving at 545 pm T110km/hr on the fast lane/3rd lane and I had to maneuver the car fast from the 3rd to the second to the first and able to stop at the shoulder. If I was not driving above speed limit I would have been toast, qew is a major through way and this was new years eve so traffic was moving fast. As I accelerated I felt a catch on the gas pedal and the car just stopped. This is a 2013 model and I have no problems with it until now. After a minute I turned the ignition on without any problems and made it to my sisters home in pickering without any incident. I will contact the dealership today Jan 1 if they are open.

First issue is the radio/center console screen will reboot while often. This happens randomly and will happen while the car is driving. I have had it happen at least 10 times. Second issue is that when even though the car was in drive, when you pressed on the gas the car would not go anywhere. The engine would rev up but the car would only move about 1-2mph after you floored the gas petal. We have taken it into the dealership twice now for these issues but the computer in the car will not say anything is wrong.

I have had my Chevy Equinox for a year now and I have been the only owner of said vehicle. When driving down the road does not matter the speed the collision warning light will come on and the car decides to slow down or come to a stop. I have checked around the car when it happens to ensure nothing is stuck around sensors however nothing. I have taken it to three different dealers and I am told the something "there is nothing wrong with the car and bring it in when it happens again and that the vehicle is not suppose to stop", that is why I brought it in. I have also been told there are no recalls. Then there is the other factor that the radio updates or shuts down when it feels it has worked to hard. I am usually in my vehicle for about 25- 30 mins both ways. Then there is the tire pressure gauge that thing will tell say the tires are one pressure when they are not I have used a tire gauge electric and manual, they read fine but the vehicle will come up with the tires being off where half the vehicle is higher than the other or all four are off nevertheless all have been checked and verified by a gauge.

Me and my wife own a 2013 Chevy Equinox. We have had this vehicle for about 18months and purchased this brand new. While driving at various speeds, the foward collision sensor activated independently without any other vehicle within close proximity. Myself and my wife have both had this problem. It happens to her all the time since she is the primary driver. She has had this happen to her over 20 times in the past 1.5 yrs. Forward collision warning will go off with no vehicle in front of her and then the brakes will momentarily engage. I have drove the vehicle and had this happen twice. I have been in the vehicle as a passenger on (3) occassions when this happened. We have had this SUV for 18months and she has taken it to (2) dealerships. Both stated they have no idea what is causing this and told us to de-activate the system. Why have this safety feature and you are told to turn it off by dealership because they have no idea on how to fix it?? I dont even know if they have contacted Chevrolet to inquire. Dealerships we utilized were john jones from corydon, in and coyle Chevrolet located in clarksville, in. This is a safety feature but has become a safety issue. I have done research online and have found countless other owners that are having the same problem.

I was traveling in moderate traffic a safe distant behind other traffic when the red light for collision avoidance on the dash came on and the vehicle automatically brake. This has happened several times since when there was no traffic in front or along side of my vehicle. I advised my dealer service technician about the incidents, but received no explanation of why it was occurring. These 3 or 4 incidents have occurred during the period of driving the vehicle 12,000 miles.

At 7pm est, as I was coming up to make a right turn I noticed the sound of my radio shut off, in a split second I looked at the digital display and all the lights were off, then as I was turning the power steering suddenly was off and I had a hard time turning the wheel to the right, the engine completely had shut down, I then was pulling off to the right side into an empty space for safety when my vehicle started on its own without any attempt to turn the key in the ignition. I am absolutely terrified. This is a brand new 4/2013 lease with only approximately 7600 or so miles noted. I am deeply concerned for not only my safety but the safety of the general public.

I have two 2013 Chevrolet Equinox lt and both have the same problem with the radio and center A/C console/heater/defroster. If a usb device is plugged into the receptacle in the center console at times the radio and console stop working. This affects the safety of the vehicle by disabling the defroster control allowing the windows to ice up (especially in Michigan). I have asked the dealer as to why it happens and they had no answer. The system has always rebooted fine after shutting the vehicle off for 5-10 minutes. Again this has only happened when a usb device is plugged in. It is my assumption that there is a problem with the booting of the center console therefore not allowing the devices to work. I have searched the internet and there are many complaints for the same item.

March 2013 radio control went off/ radio display screen froze for few hours. I was unable to turn on/off radio and stayed on the same volume. Turned off the car to reset and it did not go away. This is an old Chevrolet Equinox recall that is from the 2010 model and is happening to my 2013 as well. The radio controls and A/C-defrost control's are not working at all. "failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 103, "windshield defrosting and defogging systems and with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 101, controls and displays" Chevrolet is telling me they will not fix it because there is no recall. Driving on 5 lane highway at 60mph car shut off for no reason and went dead. Cars and trucks on both side of me and had to try. And get on left shoulder which I did without getting hit. I turned off ignition and tried to restart the car and it restarted ok and I continued on. This same problem has happened twice since I purchased vehicle. Returned to dealer both times and they checked it and said nothing wrong. I am afraid it could happen again with my children or grandchildren in car and maybe wouldn't be so lucky to get off road without being hit. Where do I go from here? thank you

The lights in the interior of my car go out intermittently. I have been driving down the highway going 70mph and without warning the car just died on me, I had to have someone push me off the highway because the car would not start. I waited about 10 mins and it started up again. The collision senor goes off when there is nothing around the car and boggs down the car while driving. I have taken it to 2 different shops and they can not get the problem to duplicate. They have had my car since before thanksgiving and gave it back to me the week of christimas. I drove it and had no problems until that Friday on my way home from work crossing over a busy intersection the collision alert started ringing and the senor is off and the car died in the middle of the road. I was able to get it started right away and get out of the intersection. I took it back to the shop and they still can't get the problem resolved. I say the GM obviously has electrical issues with their cars, because reading others complaints about the same issues. This is a major safety issue!
