I was driving home when I noticed my power brakes quit working properly. I took the Equinox in and the dealership wanted $800 to perform the repair. They told me that the solenoid valve body was $350 and the labor was $450. I said thanks but I can do it for less. I asked the technician why the repair was so high for a 30 minute labor. He said the vehicle had to be flashed. I work with solenoids and coils at my job and didn't see where this is ever an issue.
I picked up a salvaged bank for $85 and installed it. I cranked up the vehicle and the indicator lights were cleared out. I had the local mechanic scan it for me and there were no codes. Saved some money but still paid $85 more than the vehicle is worth.
