Your GM bulletin 14882 should be a complete recall for all Equinox's. this part is hazardous, and has cost way too many people alot of money. I have maintained my vehicle that I have only had 1 year and now because of your "special" bulletin and bullcrap that it wasn't built in a special plant I have to spend more then what the truck is worth to put a brand new motor in my SUV. As I was driving down a busy highway my vehicle died in the middle of the road in -55 degree weather. In conditions that the PCV rear seal system cannot handle and you all know this, but refuse to take action. How can you be ok with this, and allow people to continue purchase these vehicles? no at Chevy, GM, nor at the dealership seem willing to help in any sense and it is really sad, we have been buying Chevy since as long as I can remember, and it looks like I may have to start looking at Nissan or even Ford because at least they care about their customers. 1 year I owned the vehicle, and I either have to use it as a lawn ornament - or pay $8,100 to fix it - unreal.

On Thursday, 31 January I was driving my 2014 Chevy Equinox home from work on the highway doing about 60-62 mph and heard a popping noise followed up with my car making a loud noise and the display stating the car was low on oil and the engine was powering down, to stop the car immediately. Luckily I was able to pull into a local muffler shop before my car died. They were able to diagnose the problem after some diagnostics and stated that they had seen this same issue recently with multiple Chevy Equinox's. they also informed me of a tsb dated Jan 22, 2016. The ref # is pip5093B. They were unable to repair my vehicle and recommended that I contact Chevy about a possible recall and to have the vehicle towed to a dealership. As soon as I called the dealership, I told the gentleman I had a Chevy Equinox with a major oil leak. He immediately told me it was the rear main seal. I asked him how he knew that and he stated that with the cold weather we have been having that he had a few others in the shop currently that were getting repaired for the same issue. I asked if there was any type of recall or anything and was told it was not. I contacted Chevy and asked about the issue. I tried to stress my concern with the fact that this has been happening so much recently with the hopes that this would be looked into by Chevy. A case was immediately created, and I was told that I would have to have the vehicle officially diagnosed by a Chevy dealership before anything could be done. So I had my vehicle towed to a Chevy dealership since it was not drivable. While the tow truck operator was loading my car for Transport, he informed me that he had recently towed multiple Equinox's recently due to the same massive oil leak. The dealership contacted me and confirmed the issue was the rear main seal. I was told that the cost of repairs would be $2,184 + tax.

Vehicle has 66,000 miles on it and is a 2014. Bought the vehicle used. Always had oil changed on time and took very good care of vehicle. While driving on a morning it was -5 degrees outside the check engine and the oil light came on. A minute later, the motor shut off. The car started back up but was towed to our mechanics garage. Our mechanic completed a diagnostic and ruled the problem to be the PCV/rear seal. I called GM motors because I saw a GM bulletin stating that this has been an ongoing issue with this year, make and model of vehicle. They informed me that our VIN was not covered because the car's parts were not manufactured in a specific factory. I requested an explanation as to why that matters if it is still happening to our vehicle. GM refused to give me an answer. They suggested that I tow my vehicle to a GM dealership to get the diagnostics from them. I did so. It cost $95. GM escalated my issue within the company. I waited 3 days for an answer as to if they would help pay for the cost to fix this problem-which the dealership stated would cost $1800. GM called me back and said they cannot help and there is nothing they can do. I will continue to look further into this issue and file more complaints. The customer service was poor and the representative that my case was pushed up to was extremely rude and not helpful. I asked them to help pay for a rental vehicle while our car gets fixed and they refused.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate independently, the oil pressure warning indicator illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the PCV valve was obstructed. The blockage caused significant pressure in the engine, which caused the rear main seal between the engine and transmission to allow oil to pour from the seal. The vehicle was not repaired. Tim lally Chevrolet (located at 24999 miles rd, bedford heights, oh 44128, (440) 232-2000) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-5027280547. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

Greetings, we purchased a used Chevy eq. A few months ago at 59000 miles for my wife, currently 60000. Since I bought it the engine has rattling/clicking noise. I bought the vehicle with a rebuilt title from an individual and the noise wasn't that bad. I thought it was because of old oil and hadn't suspected such an engine problem. I am a mechanical engineer myself and couldn't think that an engine would have a defect which affects all of these Chevy vehicles so I purchased it. Today I contacted Chevy customer service and explained the problem. I was told that they receive too many same complaints. However, there is no recall related to 2014 year models and since it went to salvage condition that it is now out warranty.my car had a front bumper accident, and no radiator or engine issue after the accident. So it is definitely related to a defected engine. Although the powertrain is protected up to 100K miles, due to the title status the owner has to pay for all the expenses. I was told that, if it had a recall, regardless of title status they would repair it. They used a very bad defected engine in their vehicles and did not issue a recall. There are too many similar complaints posted on websites by upset owners, but they still do not issue a recall in order not to cover this problem. I am very regret that I purchased a GM vehicle. I will never again. Can NHTSA do something about it, because these engines are really dangerous on the roads. People posted the same problem about their car which have only 8 to 20K miles in them. The vehicle makes this rattling noise on idle, on reverse gear very much and loses so much power between 20-55 mph, does not accelerate properly and the noise is increased during acceleration. It was addressed as timing chain issue. The engine burns oil. Thank you.

The the service traction control service stabilitrak lights with the engine light came on and I lost engine power and was "reduced power." This was while driving slowly getting up to speed. Happened again a few days later when going about 40 mph and I could not go any faster, I had to pull over and stop driving. Parked the car for 3 hours then it was fine. Still not clear as to what caused this. Engine light is still on.

The engine died when stopped at a light. This happened after driving a few minutes. Within a week, it started happening more and more often, the engine would just die when stopped at a light or just starting after being stopped. The check engine light came on after a few days. Also, a couple times last winter on cold days the engine ran really rough for the first few seconds after starting. I took it to a dealer and they replaced the cam shaft actuator solenoid valve. I googled and found the 2011 Equinox was recalled (11195A) for what sounds like the same problem. The vehicle has less than 30,000 miles and had regular oil changes.

I turned my vehicle off to get gas and when I started my vehicle back up, the heating, air conditioning, defrost, radio controls and the center instrument panel lights had all become inoperative. Everything stayed inoperative for 2 days. On the third day, I was getting ready to leave and started my vehicle up but then realized I forgot something and turned my car off. I returned to my vehicle to restart it but the vehicle would not start. The center instrument panel lights and radio controls suddenly returned working but everything else that had been inoperative (the defrost, A/C and heating), stayed inoperative and my vehicle now showed the message "service power steering" under the gas gauge. I attempted to start the vehicle a day later but nothing had changed and it would not start. The vehicle was stationary when anything had become inoperative on the vehicle.

My husband and I bought brand new 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. Thinking that this would be an investment as a reliable and safe family car, it has been nothing but a headache. It currently has less than 60K miles and it has engine failure problems and isn't drive-able... the engine unexpectedly lost power while my husband was driving down the 91 freeway from irvine to riverside around 70 mph. The engine literally slowed to about 10-15 mph. My husband is a decorated marine corps war veteran who has survive three tours in afghanistan, who would have thought that a humdrum commute to work almost cost him his life. And now the check engine light is on and I am too afraid to drive it. This life threatening situation is only the most significant sometimes the car get stuck in back up cam mode or the radio shut off randomly and refuses to come back on. If I am going up a hill or a mountain the car won't go over 40 mph, and I can't trade it in cause I owe more than what the car is worth.
