This appears to be a faulty design of the fuel fill tube. Every time we fill up the gas tank the gas pumps auto shutoff feature fails to engage and fuel continues to flow until I manually release the trigger on the gas nozzle. Gas spills all over the car, the ground, and my shoes. Even if I manage to shut it off quickly and jump out of the way so that the gas misses me, it still spills out on the ground and I am standing in a puddle of gas. Then I end up tracking it back into the car.
This is a safety issue as well as a huge inconvenience, costly, and damaging to the paint, car interior, and environment.

I purchased my 2015 Equinox in late December and every time I fill it up with gas, I can count on a projectile of gasoline on me and the side of the vehicle. I have been to multiple gas stations (I have 6700 miles on it) and it is the same issue at every fill-up. I have even tried to calculate how much gas it will hold without filling completely up, but today it did the "gas burp" after just a few gallons. I am so tired of getting gas on my shoes, clothes, and car with every gas stop. This is a $37,000 vehicle. My dealer showed me a notice from GM that stated that they were aware of the problem, but did not (GM) know how to fix it. I think this is a severe safety hazard, but apparently General Motors doesn't think so.
