We had this problem the first time towing the vehicle from Ohio to Florida. Wasn't sure of cause until it happened repeatedly. Had a trickle charger from our RV to the car battery. This didn't solve the problem and had many dead batteries during travels until back in Ohio. Replaced the trickle charger with 12 volt feed from the RV. That kept the car battery charged but ran down the RV battery. GM said in bulletin PIT5591 dated 10/17/2017 their engineers were working on a solution. It is still not resolved as of 09/17/2020.
There is NO excuse for not having a fix or recall available. GM has lost all my respect for their vehicles and I will advise others of their failure to customer problems.
