Equinox LT 1.5L

On March 21st, I took my Equinox in to have a code checked and to have a safety inspection done. The code came up as a faulty sensor for the brake vacuum boost sensor. I made sure this wouldn't effect my upcoming trip out of state. March 24th, my friends and I loaded up and headed to Nashville for the weekend. We made a few stops on the way with no issues.

We were about 20 minutes from Louisville, KY and I noticed something wasn't right but just figured my car didn't wanna shift properly to exceed 60mph. As soon as we hit the bridge entering into KY, my car threw 2 different messages within 30 seconds. First one was, service brake assist which had to do with that sensor that I was told wouldn't hurt my car. The second message popped up saying "Engine power reduced" and s** went south quicker than expected. I was on the bridge when this occurred and couldn't slow down. I had to use both feet to try forcing my brake pedal down to try stopping/slowing down.

We managed to get off the highway and went to an O'Reillys to have them run the codes. I shut my car off and it wouldn't start anymore. Had it towed to the nearest dealership and turns out my vacuum pump seized up causing the cam to break and my timing to jump. Warranty refused to cover the vacuum pump because that's considered under the bumper to bumper warranty. So I spent $250 out of pocket on top of 2 rental cars, 1 to finish my trip and 1 to go get my car, and an additional hotel when I got my car back. GM has a program that'll hopefully reimburse me for everything extra I spent when I wasn't planning on spending this amount. This was for my bachelorette party and s** just went downhill when my car broke down.
