I just purchased my new 2020 Chevy Equinox on 24 Nov. 2020. It rained on 25 Nov. 2020, and when I checked the vehicle on 26 Nov. 2020 the spare tire well had a good amount of water in it. There was enough to completely drench that thick pad that is underneath the spare but I didn't pull the spare to see how bad it actually is.

I've read the fixes on the internet but this is brand new so I'll let the dealership figure out where it's leaking from and fix it. I would have to assume this has been happening the whole time it's been sitting on the dealer lot but no one ever checks the spare tire well. Eventually it's gonna get moldy and smelly if not fixed, so my advice if you have this vehicle is to check in that spare tire well to see if it's wet in there after the car gets wet.
