My 2017 Chevrolet Express experienced sudden Torque Convertor Failure at 64k just outside of the power-train warranty. The van began to shift hard and defaulted to 4th gear as the transmission temps spiked, then went into limp mode and lost all forward movement. This has been a known issue with the JMBX torque converter that came in the 6L90 transmissions from 2016-2019. When contacting GM they told me to kick rocks because it was considered a commercial vehicle even though this is a personal vehicle. There are active payback programs for the silverado and the van chassis that were made into a bus or ambulance but they have still not extended that to the passenger or cargo vans. The GM dealer quoted me $8400 1 year 12k warranty and a 6 month lead time on a new transmission as they were on backorder. I could not wait that long for it so I had a reputable shop rebuild it with an FTI billet faced HD convertor, repair to anything damaged from the metal that was circulating in the system and a 3 year 36k warranty for $6,800. Do better GM.
