A lot of HHR owners have this complaint. Under the windscreen, the covering is a thin, frail, piece of tarp like material, that dries up and falls into the cavity leaving a large, unprotected opening. When it rains the water pours into that opening and floods the passenger floor and wets up blower resistor which causes it to short circuit once a year. I've rigged my own contraction to sort of alleviate this problem the best I could. I'm sure there will be a rust issue in the future.

I just have never heard of or had a problem like this and wonder if it is some kind of design flaw. The little drain on the outside below my windshield stopped up and there was water overflow in the passenger floor board. My husband got it unstopped but there was water inside my fan for the air conditioner and later my fan motor went out along with the resistor. I had it repaired 01/02/2015 and it cost 200.00. The repair man said he had also replace the same thing on another HHR just recently with the same situation.
