The brakes on my 2006 hhr are GARBAGE !!!!! The rear brakes make a gruting noise like they are trying to take a sh*t at slow speed and vibrate . I have only made a living working with cars one way or another ( mechanic , service advisor ,service manager , production for gm building brake booster ) . The rear brakes where making an awful noise when coming to a stop at slower speeds . This is agruting type noise not a grinding noise like metal to metal .It also has a vibration with the noise . At 75xxx miles I replaced the brake shoes , turned the rotos and greased the backing plates. The noise went away . Now roughly 4000 miles later the nois is back and worse than before . This time the drums will have to be replaced because the will be out of spec if turned again . I have had front brake problems as well . It seems the 2006's are the worst year for alot of problems over any other year . I have had more problems with this car than all my other cars combined . MY personal opion is this car is a piece of SH*T !!!! I will NEVER buy another GM product again .

Complained about brakes on 04/03 and was advised they were okay. 20 days later metal to metal - the front brake pads were completly gone and rotors had to be replaced. SRV Tech stated I had incorrectly operated the vehicle, I should have brought the vehicle in as soon as I heard the growling sound. The "growling" sound started the day vehicle was brought in, I drove less than 15 miles after the sound started.
