HHR LT 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,685 miles

Steering goes out without warning. Turn off ignition and it resets sometimes for a day, sometimes for a few miles. GM knows of the problem yet doesn't provide a fix for it. Other model years have had a recall yet earlier models with the same steering motor are not covered. the car is not driven much as indicated by the 55K miles on a 10 year old car. Between this and problems with my Tahoe I will reconsider buying GM again.

I had my power steering light check today at Serra Chevorlet, Al. 11/09/16. The steering shuts down and hard to steer. This is very dangerous. I was never notified of this recall. I could have lost my life. Serra charged me $115.00 just to check the HHR out, and never metion the life time recall. After checking problem. He check and advise caused by FOUND CODES STORED IN HISTORY, BUT NO CURRENT CODES, POWER STEERING MODULE AND BCM NOT COMMUNICATING. Work performed by Josh Langley NEEDS POWER STEERING MODULE. PARTS & LABOR $1058.00....I did not have problem fix................Could you please look into this..... There is a GM website that shows a recall for the power steering for the 2007 thru 2010, and in paragraph 4 says they are guaranteed for life. The site is http://media/us/en/news.detail.html/content/pages/news/en/2014/mar/0331-power-steering.html Thank you, Jasmine Mayo

I've tried changing the fuse and turning the steering wheel back and forth (per the book) but is still goes out within 5 minutes of starting the car. I can shut off the engine to reset the power steering but if goes back out very soon. Anyone got any ideas?

HHR LS 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission

Since I bought the car it has been an issue. When the car was diagnosed, and the rack was replaced, $400 later, and the problem was not fixed, I was then told, it would be another $700- $900 to fix. I replaced the motor which I heard would fix it. It did not! The fuse blows every time I put one in, so I flush down the toilet $5 there. And it just blows so I quit doin that. As I drive 400 miles per day, this is an issue. I don't want to spend 800 More dollars so fuses keep blowing and I have to continue to keep taking it back to shop. I want a recall .

the problem i have with the chevrolet hhr 2007 is that it does not have a recall on the power steering but the sister car the cobalt the same year has a recall. why can't the hhr have a recall to rectify the the situation?
