Impala LS 3.8L

I have a 2000 chevy impala LS 3.8. My cd player won't turn off. It keeps saying check cd. There is no cd in it. My cd player took a dump in 05. I've been using my ipod with an aux. jack cassette adaptor. The dealer wants $800.00 to replace it not including labor
