"I have a 2000 Impala 3.8 3800 motor that engine locked. My mechanic tore it apart and found out that the oil pump had exploded. He had replaced oil pump, timing cover and car ran fine. Now it has check engine light on & Advance checked & says its my knock..."

After a month of driving a totally rebuilt engine, it died in the middle of a NY expressway, I had to be towed, the engine had to be totally dismantled - broken camshaft found - FOR THE SECOND TIME. Car is in the shop now for 3 plus weeks, and this time I can't afford a rental. (Inferior material used to make camshaft? Camshaft made where?) Anyone else out there with this problem with a Chevy (Impala) camshaft?
