I had this problem with my Impala and nice I changed the relay, all has been good. U have to pull the dash out(minor pain in the ass)? After you have the dash pulled, unclip the old relay and plug n the new one and replace your dash

The directional turn-signal decides when they want to work, sometimes being influenced with the Hazard button.
All bulbs are good. The Flasher used is electronic RC variety and depends on the load resistance to function properly. A poor connection would result in an increase in resistance, thus simulating a burned lamp.
This vehicle is plagued with numerous electrical problems that I will post in other sections. Most are of an intermittent behavior, strongly suggesting faulty inter-connects, of which there is many and not easily accessible. Several appeared during the warranty period, supposedly repaired, but eventually failing again. Since my foremost concern is electrical, my additional problems are with: Rear defroster, Parking brake indicator, Airbag failure indicator and Headlight hi/low beam switch. I am sure that other years and models of GM autos exhibit the same problems.
Definitely a cause for recall!

the blinkers and flashers work on and off. sounds like a lot people are having the same issues. but replacing a flasher relay should be easy, where is hell did chevy hide the relay. can anyone tell me.

I dont know what it is but the signal works when it wants to. That is not safe at all. It could cause a accident or get me a ticket. It seems like its one thing after another with this car. I neva had to stress about any other car I had befour till now.

When this problem was occurring, the signal lights would blink really fast. i f you turned on the hazard lights just for 5-10 seconds and then turned them back off, the signals went back to working normal.... for a little while. After another turn or two, they went back to sporadic. And when you restarted the vehicle, they were bad. The hazard switch repair seems to have fixed the problem.

turn signals have never worked completely right. They would only work on occasion, now not at all!! Ive tried the hazard light trick and checked all fuses....no luck. I believe its the multi-function switch. Not sure bc car keeps dying so its kind of difficult to figure out when your car keeps draining your new batteries....Piece of JUNK!

I found the part!

Part # 10359031($46.30)
You have to take the dashboard off...Instructions below
I had the exact same problem in my 02 Chevy Impala. You need to replace the Hazard Switch. It's about $55 from a Chevy Dealer. You can replace it yourself, since you've already pulled the dash, you should be familiar with the procedure. Look at your dash, see the big button with a red/orange triangle? That's the hazard switch.
When you pull the dash off you'll see a large green switch unit, just unclip it, unplug the wiring harness, slide the old one out, slide the new one in and plug it in. This is a VERY common problem on 00+ Impalas, and is easily fixable.
Oh, and I believe the part number is 10359031. You can verify this by calling a Chevy dealership's parts department. GMPartsDirect lists it as $29.75. How do you fix the turn signal problem? I have to hit my hazards in order to get my turn signals to work again after they go off. I bought a new flasher, but I have no idea where it goes or how to find the old on. Any ideas?
- lint212, Milwaukee, WI, US
Turn signals basically work when they want to...1st started the day my daughter went for her road test for her drivers license....and of course they didn't work so she got points off(she got her license though!) Besides being annoying, and a safety issue, Ive also been lucky to not have been ticketed.

Flasher light keep turning off intermittently, it's very annoying the relay was change every light bulb change and the problem remain

My impala's turn signals & flashers work when they want to only. You can turn it on, then while it is still on it will stop working. Also it refuses to work countless times. It does it when ever it feels like it. Cold or hot outside. Dealership has no idea why. They will look at when it isn't working. When would that be??? They think that it is the sensor is going out, and could cost as much as $900 to fix. Why do I have to pay for this. This should be paid for by Chevy not me.

bullcrap car dealership I had a blown head gadget a couple month after I purchase the car. I had an oil leakage I had to do the motor mount
- Sharon R., Selma, AL, US
This was going on for over a year. Did the hazard switch reset thing that would make the turn signals work again but that has stopped working now and the signals and the hazards will not work at all. Trying to find a part or part number for a hazard relay switch is like trying to find the Holy Grail. This is such utter bullshit, it's almost unbelievable.
I have read numerous, and I mean NUMEROUS, complaints on many different message boards from sooooooooo many others with the same vehicle model that are having the same issues.
The Malibu apparently had a recall for this same issue using the same switch, however Impala owners are just getting screwed it looks like.
I've always loved Chevy's, but if they don't do something about this problem with almost each and every newer model year Impala, they are going to lose my business for good!!!
WAKE UP CHEVY!!!!!!

Turn signals stopped working at the discretion of the vehicle. This is a safety issue for someone driving in heavy traffic. Also, there is a threat of getting a ticket for signaling...there needs to be a recall done....does anyone know the process for engaging one? I am 21 so, by default, cops are looking to ticket me for something...Chevy should foot the bill.

Majority of the time the turn signals operate properly, but without notice, the turn signals functionality fails. I never know when the turn signals operation will not function. The operation of the turn signals fail at an estimate of 20 percent of the time which is a hazard. I have read other complaints from owners concerning the same issue for 2000 Impalas. I don't understand why this issue hasn't resulted in a NHTSA recall.
- Mark T., Fort Mill, SC, US
This blows ass when you're in traffic and need to switch lanes - GM needs to take responsibility for this and fix the problem. This is a major safety issue... among others with the shitily wired 2000 Impalas. Just a heads up for others out there, I feel my brights/dimmer switch is near breaking as well. I've noticed that when I put my head lights on bright there is a ton of slack in the switch when I pull it back. I can't wait for the damn thing to fall off... then I can jab a pretty screw driver into it and hope that will work it.
- Lance G., Aurora, CO, US
Had the car since new it started after warranty ran out. Found out the if I turn on the hazards and then turn the hazards back off they would start working again.
- Marc S., Plattsmouth, NE, US
My first vehicle.. Bought as is at an auto auction. Perfectly fine until on my way home after the purchase. Sure I had test driven it for a good 8miles. No problems at that time. So as I headed home I was making a turn. Out of nowhere my signal blinked erratically and shut off. Happened so many times but other days it wouldn't work for sh*t.. So I had gone to a Chevy dealership to get it checked out and it was the hazard relay. Not much of a problem.. If this is the part that fixes your problem, I hope for the best that it is.. I'm on my 4th vehicle now. I miss that car.

Im so angry I am about to sell the car and take it as a loss
