Well, they have their slogan the 'Heart Beat of America' better change the sh*t cuz it's a bad beat. I had this car for 7 yrs, but I have spent more than 3000 dollars on it, fix something then I have to fix something else. My wife tells me to sell it but I don't want to sell this dead beat to somebody else. The Heart Beat of America my behind GM. Do something about this crap, no wonder the other company left you guys. That's the real beat, recall, recall, recall, recall, recall, recall, recall.

Driving the car one morning and went to turn on my turn signals and there was nothing. I could not believe it!! Thank goodness is very early in the morning and not a lot of motorists were out. I could have caused an accident!!!

flashers lights fuse keeps blowing out blinkers don't work
- Steve K., Memphis, TN, US
My turn signals randomly decide to stop working. I can usually get them to go if I turn on the hazards and then turn them off again, then try the turn signals, but this could be dangerous. This car is such a lemon...I'm never buying another Impala, which is really too bad because it drives really nice, but there are just too many problems...

Blinkers only work occasionally. I've had it into the shop a few times, but if the blinkers just happen to be working at that time, they cannot find out if there is a short somewhere. Otherwise, I'll need to replace the entire blinker & cruise control system, which the dealer says is about $900. I HATE THIS CAR! It has been nothing but trouble from day 1.

Bought this car from family in Feb 09. He had a piece of cardboard stuck under the hazard switch, I pulled it out thinking nothing. Come to found out that it "made" the turn signal / hazard lights "work". I drove the car well over a year with it broken (I actually broke the button itself trying to install an after market CD/MP3 player). I would stop working and I would just wiggle it and it worked; eventually. Looked at junk yards for a button and finally in June 2010 I found the button in an old 2004 Police cruiser Impala, I bought the whole electronic component for about $10 and replaced mine. I haven't had a problem with it since. Easy fix for the right price. Thought I'd share for others that ended up being cursed by this cars many problems.
Update from Mar 6, 2012: Update: March 2012 - Turn signals still working without a problem
- Michael D., Tarentum, PA, US
I have took it back to the dealer ship and told them about the problem but they came back and told me that they could not find anything wrong with the turn signal. I think it is because I am a woman and they do not believe me on what I was saying.

I was on the interstate going about 70 and tired to switch lanes and all of a sudden my turn signal quit working. I was almost flatten by a transfer truck. This is rediculous. I have to turn on my hazard lights and sometimes my turn signals will work but most of the time they don't. This is Chevolet's responsiblitiy to fix.

Took vehicle to the dealer and they told me to return when it happens again. Now if that isn't the craziest thing I don't know what is. Well of course it happened again and of course we were no where near the dealership. We never did get an answer or a fix to this problem. This scenario still occurs today...signal dies, we press the hazards...signal works. What we have come to recognize though is that this generally occurs when there is moisture and/or humidity in the air.
My husband and I really enjoy the ride of this vehicle but the problems are ridiculous. Just last week we came across another problem with the vehicle. Not sure yet what it is. Car isn't even 10 years old and all this el-crapo we have encountered is frustrating. One thing we know for sure...This vehicle was the LAST CHEVY PURCHASE OF OUR LIVES. We will soon be in the hunt for another new car MINUS THE CHEVY AND THE PONTIAC'S.

It's been one problem after another...Recently spent over $1000 to have ridiculous repairs done and now this...Gm needs to take responsibility for their own incompetence
- Debby S., Auburn, PA, US
Once in a blue moon my signals won't work. I just move the 4-ways switch around a bit and the signals will start to work again. I don't think it's worth fixing at the moment.

This is Bull$hit! my 2001 Impala is a good car but the damn Turn signals and brake lights quit working one day. I was turning a corner and ... No turn signals or brake lights. LUCKILY my husband was behind me and let me know that my brake lights went out too. If it were someone else I could have been rear ended. GM had better do something about this $hit!
- plaigh, Muskegon, MI, US
the blinkers just work when they want too, this is a serious problem when you have children in the car and you have to switch lanes or turn, I have to speed up ahead of people then quickly turn so I, and my kids don't get our butt rear ended.
- Chrissy G., Mufreesboro, TN, US
Turn Signals never work in this piece of crap just think GM should go bankrupt by paying us all back for our purchases. Kids find it funny when they do they even count to see how many times they blink. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY
- Christy L., Conneaut, OH, US
Fix. Turn signals and hazard are on one switch on the dash. Problem is cold solder joints on small board on the switch. First fix I re soldered loose connection on board, worked for a while. Finally simply changed switch with a new one. Take off dash. About 5 screws, pop out hazard switch replace. Problem solved.

Many times when I tried to use my turn signals, it will blink once (if that) and then go out. I would lose all electrical signaling capabilities. Sometimes, if I activated my hazards, the turn signals would work again for a short period of time.
- Jeremy A., Prattville, AL, US
This doesn't happen that often on my car, but when it does it's annoying.
- Tyler O., Weatherford, OK, US
This started happening when I bought the car and i just wiggle the switch or push it in and out and it starts working.
- robertcook88, Alma, MI, US
Driving down the road put turn signal on it clicks 3 times than shuts off. The way I found to get it to work tape the four-way flashers then they start working again. This get to be a pain in the ass. I am disabled and don't have the money to put it in the shop to figure out what the problem is. My problem is I have a bad back and can't do anything I depend on my daughter to help me out.
