There have been electrical problems with this car since I bought in in April 2002. It is very annoying that the horn goes off when it is locked in the garage, church, drs office, hotels, anywhere. If someone tried to break in, I would pay it no attention. I just mashed the red button on my key and it goes off, it may do it several times. One morning in church it kept doing it so many times, I just went to the car and unlocked it. I do not even bother to mention it to the dealership, they ignored the other complaints. Said it did not happen with them. Fortunately, it runs good.

I've owned my 2002 Impala since May of 2002. About 10 years into my ownership of the vehicle, the horn would go off for no reason - a constant steady blast that woke up neighbors and tended to occur early in the morning (3 am - 7 am).
The first time it happened, it took me by total surprise. I was trying everything to get it to stop. I turned the car on, off, on, off. I shook it. I opened the hood, getting prepared to disconnect the battery. Before a friend could make it to my car with tools, I sat in the car for one last try at something, ANYTHING.
I got so pissed that it wouldn't stop, I just punched the steering column in frustration. IT STOPPED!!! From then on, if it occurred (at least 10 more times), I would just run out and give my car a knockout punch.
Eventually, one morning, the car starting doing it again, but the horn sounded a little weak. Sure enough, by the time I got out there it was silent. The horn went out. I never got it fixed, and I drive around sans horn. Not the best solution, but it cost NOTHING.
NOTHING is EXACTLY what I will give to GM in the future too. I plan on airing all the dirty laundry on my vehicle in other sections in the near future. I just discovered carcomplaints.com. AWESOME!!!
