Low coolant light comes on. I replaced the water pump, no help, still comes on. From what I have read, it's a leaky gasket- will try to do it myself with the help of a friend that knows more about cars than I do. But as the saying goes, I have more time than I have money, so wish me luck my fellow GM owners that have been screwed.

My POS car won't stop with the freakin light about the low cooling fluid and the check engine is on too!! i had just fixed something else that had to do with the cooling system which was a big pain. now this crapp happens too!!!!!!!!

The coolant light does not appear to function as intended, coming on when the reservoir is full. Also, the gas gauge does not work, and the car engine loses power while driving. My mechanic cannot pinpoint it, but others have said they have had all of these happen too. I am thinking about a trade in...my mileage is 117,000 and it's only getting older.

low coolant light comes off and on . Took to repair shop and told that it had a lower manifold gasket leak. mechanic recommended new gasket flush and clean radiator oil change replace thermostat and sensor on low coolant. did all that and coolant light still comes on and off while driving. Took it back to mechanic and he flushed the radiator again to see if any junk was in radiator and checked the sensor to see if it was good. . He told me that should take care of the problem and if light still comes on after this it must be electrical problem. well low coolant light still comes on and off after all of this. any suggestions?

I'm going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with this car. If it's not one thing it's the other. Now the stupid low coolant light keeps coming on. I fill it up and about 5 minutes later it comes back on. I need a solution as to what the problem is and about how much it's gonna cost to get the problem fixed. Money doesn't grow on trees and if it did a lot of us would be worried about other things that had nothing to do with it. So irritating.

Low coolant light comes on then goes off after a few minutes. This happens every 10 minutes. I checked my coolant tank, it was pretty low. Right after filling it to the proper level, I drive away... coolant light comes on. wtf. I check the tank a few hours later, almost empty again. Took it in and told the mechanic the situation. He did air pressure tests, found no leak.

The Low level coolant light has been on for over a year. I brought it to the local dealer 4 times & they flushed the radiator, replaced the sensor each time. This remedies the problem for about 3-6 months but the stupid light always comes back on. The last time was beyond repair warranty time.

My low coolant light comes on at will....my water is not low, there is no leak that I can detect, and I simply don't know what to do about it! It worries me while driving on long trips out of town, but the engine never runs hot! Also, my change engine oil message comes on now as well....I did have the oil changed, but I've had it changed several times and never had that message come on....

The low coolant light would not go out on my car. The coolant was never low, the light all of a sudden came on. The sensor was bad, it was replaced about 2 months ago. Now, the low coolant light is starting to come on and off again intermittently and again, the coolant level is fine. I am really upset and don't want to have to pay for another repair of the same thing.

Ive read the other complaints and could not believe how many others there were going through the same automobile nightmare that i have been experiencing for close to a <p>year. The coolant light in my car has been coming on for several months and like so<p>many others i
ve been adding dexcool thinking the problem was minor, but now i
realize this is a common problem among CHEVY IMPALAS and just like most of the other complaints i don`t have money laying around.CHEVY NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE !!!!!! PLEASE ADD ME TO THE CLASS ACTION SUIT

Chose to disconnect sensor connector till a Flush & fill needs to occur. I'll remove the sensor, clean and re-install it then.

Purchased car in nov 2001. Thought it was a great car. Had it for a little while and wife used it to go back and forth to work 1/2 mi each way. Right now I have only 33000 mi on the car.about 3 yrs ago it was in for service and at the time I was told there was a recall on the steering and the intake manifold gaskets. At this time they fixed both. They replaced a steering part and they changed some intake bolts and added some sort of pellets to stop a potential leak. I wish they had contacted me first before clogging up my coolant system with some sort of GOO!!Well. car seemed fine for the next couple of yrs and then all of a sudden the coolant light keeps coming on.When it does I only add a very little bit ,maybe a half pint of dex cool but light stays on. I check oil all the time, because I change it myself and there is no water in oil.so coolant must be leaking elsewhere (not on driveway either).I just wish light would go out. I seem to think that the sensor is shot and will probably change first. I am very shocked that Chevrolet would use such cheap measures on a golden bread and butter product. It is no wonder they are closing down plants all over the USA. My car is over 5 yrs old but under 50000 mi drivetrain, so I am stuck with a large repair bill when It has to be done. I am middle aged and have never owned anything but GM's But from now on I will be buying Japanese. At least they hold up and they hold there valve better than anything American. It is a poor state of affairs when we can no longer manufacture a decent dependable affordable automobile. I would also like to be included into the CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. Thank You, toghog

I will never bug another GM product.
Update from Jul 10, 2010: security light comes on during driving and sometimes the car will not start after starting off.

Ok, this is kind of a pain in the ass....... the low coolant light will sometimes come on or stay on, this might be one of two things, the light can come on due to failure in the sensor it self, but the problem i found was that the upper and lower intake gasket can fail....... the repairs are cheap if you can do the work your self but kinda costly if you have to see a shop, the light can come on due to these gaskets failing...... local auto parts stores normally keep this part in stock! have fun with this, it is a pain in the ass!

I need serious help, I'm not too sure what else to do, I hope writing this may bring me some clarity. I inherited this car from my mother who passed two years ago, she was the only owner. Had minor issues. The car has been great for me, but always had electrical issues as long as I can remember (lights on saying "trunk open" "Door open" stuff like that). So, around a month ago the check engine light came on reading a "exhaust gas" code? Something like that, I was told, I could still drive it but eventually need to get it fixed. Two weeks ago the transmission started to shift hard on and off (if I drove 4 times that day, will shift hard 2 times out of the 4 small trips). Ok, so then my air was not blowing out hard at all and it gets very hot in NC so I changed my air filter, which had a lot of cotton on top of it (????) and a dirty filter, and blows out harder. The low coolant light popped on last night and I added coolant and then this morning, the air (changed filter last night) is blowing hot to cold and the low coolant light is on again. I added some more coolant. Does anyone know if these issues tie into each other? I absolutely cannot afford to take it to a shop and it is my only transportation. I am terrified it will leave my 4 year old son and I stranded somewhere or just stop working one day soon. Please help if anyone can shed any light at all on these issues, more and more problems just keep popping up on this car everyday. I am terrified. :/ Thank you for reading this, I hope it isn't too confusing! God Bless!!
