It ain't been fixed yet! That's why I'm asking for HELP!
Update from May 17, 2009: I hope I fixed the problem. It was just as one of the contributors said. the lower weather strip which acts as a dam and routes the surface water away from the passenger compartment filter had come totally loose and was lying down below the filter making certain that all water could only drain into the filter / then the blower / then into tthe passenger's side of the car. The final cclinching evidence was that I could wring water out of the filter. In hind sight, if I had routinely replaced the filter as scheduled maint. guids said to I would have seen this one coming before my Impala became a mini sub. Twenty two dollars worth of filter and adhesive plus 20 minutes labor cured the problem. It will be days however before I can get the carpet dried out...sofar the wet/dry vac has pulled 2 gallons of water out of the car's floor pan and my wife is exhausted from sitting ther making like a grape presser while I apply the vac to the never ending stream of water secreted from the padding. I won't ever tell her that this could have been prevented by PM ing like the manual said...I might be dumb but I'm not that stupid!

I had water leaking in the car on the passenger side, it has happened before but now this time it was a huge puddle, so then I searched for the problem and found that for me it was the windshield sealer strip, so I took the black piece of plastic off. 1 plastic screw and 2 pull connectors,(just below passenger side wiper). I could see the problem right away with the sealing strip... I used clear sealing caulk on the sealing strip to make sure it wont come off easily again, so far 2 more rainy days and so far no more water.

My complaint matches a few others on this site. I have a 2003 impala and I discovered a nasty water leak while in the city that always rains (Vancouver) back in March (3 weeks after I bought it!). Since then it has been to the shop 4 times. Thought the problem was fixed and then this weekend the heavens opened up and we got rain.... lots of rain. I went to get something out of my car and low and behold a shat load of water back in my car for the 5th time. OK NOW I'M PISSED OFF! So I've been searching on the net and I find this site.... along with a few others. I discovered that many people have had this problem with impalas 2000 - 2004. According to a few different people that have been able to rid themselves of the problem it's a poorly executed weatherstrip design under the cowl. If you take the black piece off... 1 plastic screw and two pull connectors (just below passenger side wiper) There is a problem with the sealing strip. The factory didn't seal it properly. So I'm taking all that I've found to the shop tomorrow.... Hopefully this works before my carpet ROTS!

This is the second time the floor on the passenger side front was wet, it actually had a puddle on the floor. We just had a serious rain the night before, so I knew it was one of the seals leaking. I forget where I read it, however I read that there is a seal when you remove the passenger side windshield wiper and remove the plastic cover that comes off. That is what happened in this case as well. It was a pretty simple fix. This seal keeps water from going down thru your fan motor. I simply cleaned the seal and the metal surface, applied a small amount of adhesive silicone, and put the seal back into place. It worked cause later in the day we did get more rain, but no puddle on the floor. Regards, Joseph
