Clunk sound when starts or turning. Sometimes squeaks. Didn't bother getting fixed.

Steering developed clicking on turning, there is a TSB on this and GM makes a lubrication kit for the sector shaft, there is some grease and a shield to install that supposedly helps retain the lubricant (which eventually leaks out over time anyway and the process has to be repeated.)

I've done some research on this one my father happens to be a Master Mechanic and a dispute resolver for AAA. We both have test drove the car and the only thing that we could come up with was possibly internal U-Joint failure. However, the usual signs of a a split boot or obvious wear was no where to be found I did even take picture of the area to be examined later. Still nothing to be found. I read some of the other blogs about an internal shaft that needs to be re-lubricated. I'm hoping it's this and a quick an inexpensive fix to boot. I did receive similar results when duplicating the troubleshoot process of finding an empty parking lot and turning the wheel to the locked position and then back a 1/4 turn.

I purchased car as a "Certified" used car, a month later took car back to dealership. Service person stated
they knew what was, did a "good faith" fix. Within a short time, same noise back. Now they stated the part was
approximately $300 plus labor. But they said it wasn't necessary, it was just a little noisy!
