I have a Chevy 2004 Impala LS. The past couple of months the car has been completely shutting off while driving or sitting in traffic. It is scary! I have almost been hit twice due to this issue. I have taken the car to 2 different mechanic shops and both times they were not able to find a problem. The message center is not showing a problem and there are no codes showing when the car is put on a meter. I am in contact with Chevy customer service and I am not getting anywhere. I was told to take my car to a Chevy dealership for diagnostics because their mechanics are better- The dealership they gave me is 2 1/2 hours away. I was also told that I would have the honor of paying for the diagnostics. I told them that in my research, I have noticed numerous complaints regarding the same issues I am having.

My 2004 Impala has had only a few minor glitches until recently when the engine began stalling while slowing down. It now happens multiple times per commute. I replaced the fuel filter last night...no affect. I filled the car with 93 octane gas and added fuel injector cleaner to the same tank...no affect. After seeing all the complaints about similar problems, it appears I have a challenge ahead of me. Wish me luck!!!

Damn this car! My wife was driving the car around town when it starting shutting off on her at red lights. After a few days it started shutting off while driving it. So I replaced the fuel pump($260) didn't fix the problem replaced the mat sensor($130) not it either. Gonna try replacing the idle air valve sensor, hopefully this works!
