When I bought the car over a year ago I noticed that sometimes the blinkers stop working... If I shut the car off and turn it back on it helps, sometimes... other times it does not... Now it is getting so bad that the lights will go out while driving down the road at night if I switch to bright light or dim??? It is scary at night... I have had people look at it and no one knows what is wrong with it.... help?

I've been having other problems with this car, but this one just showed up. I'd had the car parked for about a month because of other issues and when we turned the car over, I tested to make sure everything was working. When I move the stick to turn the left blinker on, the wiring buzzes like something is trying to work but doesn't at all. When I move the stick to turn the right blinker on, nothing happens at all and it doesn't buzz like the left blinker does.Neither indicator light on my dash panel shows up either. I'm guessing it's faulty wiring or something came loose, but I haven't had a chance to get it fixed yet.

Blinkers stop working. not sure of time frame or date as been quite a few years that it all started. I found if I hit the emergency flasher and leave on abt 1 minute blinkers start working again. However after years of doing this it is starting not to work. I truly believe this is a defect in the flasher compotent which has to also be tied in with blinkers. This should of been a recall but chevy is showing it doesnt care about the people who buy their cars as long as they buy them. like the 57 cent part that would of saved lives.. What is wrong with GM. Fix the cars and have life long customers. Dont fix and lose more than you know... there is alot of other car dealers out there. i switched from Honda and now know that I will proably not get another GM product. this is just one of several things that have gone wrong.

The turn signals will not work on a frequent basis. I know how to reset them; turn the Hazardous Flashers on for a few seconds. I have had several mechanics tell me that I should not have this repaired because it will cause more issues. Like the Security light issue, I have just adapted, kind of like being in a bad relationship; you know you should cut your losses, but you just pipe down and take it like a man, and learn to live with it until you become num to the fact. You throw some money at the problem and hope it goes away.
When I look back, I can thank Chrysler for my headaches. When I was in the market for a car, the salesman at the Chrysler dealership was so rude, I went down the road and bought a Chevy. So I am not sure GM should take all the bad press. THANKS ALOT, CHRYSLER!

A definite safety hazard that is widely reported on topix for Chevrolet Impala ( http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-impala/T4P2NGT979PJ7QT2P ). Car is low mileage (under 36,000 miles) and just out of warranty. Kind of makes you wonder. This part should have been recalled and fixed by GM

I just paid $278.00 to get the fuel regulator replaced four days ago and now the blinkers just stopped blinking. Being that today is Saturday I couldn't get too many answers on why this is happing. The parts dept. at a local Chevy dealer ship said it sounds like I will have to replace the emergency blinker switch because the blinker fuse & switch are one unit. The switch/fuse is a $65.00 part. I can't do it my self because the switch is located in the dash board and no one sells the repair book on the 2004 Chevy impala's yet. So this repair i'm sure will cost me about $200 plus dollars. Forget calling GM about there lemon because they didn't help me the first time. And to think the warranty ran out in May of 2007 and never reached the 36,000 mile exp. time.

I've never had a car where the turn signals stop working altogether. Then after several miles of driving the turn signals work again. And they stop working. Endless cycle. Can you imagine me trying to explain my situation to a cop? "I'm sorry officer, my turn signals work only when they want to."
