Both sides wheel hub bearings/sensors were replaced. Grinding noise still continues. Disconnected battery to reset. Still didn't help. Don't know what else to do.

This is the second hub I will have had to replace - never have had to replace bearings at this mileage in a car - ever & I'm over 70 years old. I have driven GM mostly all my life but the quality has really gone downhill on this car. The car drives great & is well built but is made of parts designed to fail - nice business model GM!!!

On this car, I have had to replace two wheel bearings/hubs, 1 power window motor, one ignition switch (key would not start car), 3 different gas tank problems, one alternator, 1 transmission gasket, the instrument cluster (speedometer etc), and I forget what else and the car has only gone about 80,000 miles. People might wonder why I haven't get rid of this lemon but I keep thinking - what else can go wrong - it's worth nothing to sell even though it is in good shape - plus as I said, it drives great - when it is not in the shop getting fixed.

The quality of the parts on GM products has definitely gone downhill. When a wheel bearing goes at 50,000 miles, quality is poor.

Impala LS 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,450 miles

Passenger side front hub/bearing was diagnosed as too loose to perform an alignment. Had to have it and the drivers side hub/bearings replaced. Cost 700 bucks for both but could only afford to do one at a time. Service shop said they see a lot of Impalas with the same problem - lots of business for them.

Impala LS 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

My traction lights came on and the ABS light was on and the message center said service traction soon. When I would try to stop it felt like my brakes were locking up. It was a scary feeling not knowing if I was gonna stop or not.

Impala LS 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

at 54,000 miles had right rear cv axle and hub bearings replaced. I choose the Chevy because reports I read said they had improved the quality. I do not think so. I have had to replace rotors and pads at 66,000 miles and a solenoid evap at 75,000 and now wheel bearings on left side at 78,000. I had a 95 neon that I gave toa friend and it has 250,000 miles on it still runs and needs only minor repairs.

I am disappointed in the Chevy.

Update from May 26, 2009: Just got back from the repair shop. And again 25,000 from the last replacement of wheel hubs on the passenger side I had to replace them again. This is a pain in the butt. Very disappointed in Chevy.
